Yamada flicked so much the commentary turned German lol

😎 Yamada le sacó un ojo a Davide.

It's all in the wrist.

Yamada sometimes seems a bit sleepy and too risky. He fenced so close to the opponent, that he got caught like 4+ times with a direct, straight attack, with almost no chances to make it a one light touch for him. He must've anticipated it, no? To me he looked completely caught by surprise in those moments.
Im just a humble fencer, not a world championship medalist by any means, but I think he could've won this bout fairly easy, if he had stayed more patient and more alert on the distance: he still maintaines his unique style, but dosent get hit with simple attacks on preparation with zero chances to resist them.

It's also strange to me that he almost never changes his game in this bout. He just goes forward and... does the same thing? Comes too close, gambles with flicks, having very limited space for his actions🧐. What's the whole tactics of that? I mean, he must've known, that Davide would try to insert an attack there somewhere – then he probably should've prepared a counteraction, but no)
Why he didn't do that? It's all a mystery for me, honestly. No parries of simple attacks, almost no work with the distance between them, only flicks and feints, without a proper defense.

Maybe I'm stupid and just don't understand that he, in fact, prepared a lot of things, but Davide was to fast for him. Maybe))

So refreshing to see Epee fencers not bouncing around and just doing stepping movements
