Etho is your favourite Minecraft youtuber's favourite Minecraft youtuber

I found Etho by sheer chance by looking up Let's Play Minecraft episode 1 and his video popped up. Worked my way through to the present and then subscribed. His tagline is Minecraft done technical, and I would be very surprised if Mojang doesn't contact him every so often to ask what kinds of technical things he'd like to see in future updates.

0:53 mentions etho invented a lot of things, doesnt even mention THE ETHO HOPPER CLOCK. A much used progammable timer, simple effective and has been used for over 10 years now

I feel like this video’s title is really misleading. This video is really a superficial timeline that doesn’t dive into nuance between Etho and the broader community. Saying that Etho “survived” the Minecraft community implies there was a fight or tension to begin with, which there plainly wasn’t. “A brief history of Ethoslab” would be a more fitting title.

While I can tell the video is made in good faith, it just left me feeling a disappointed as an avid fan of Etho.

Mindcrack, BdoubleO, GenerikB, Etho, all of it brings back a lot of memories

Can’t forget that Etho invented ASMR videos too

I remember as a kid making a ticker and then discovering etho made it a decade earlier

Etho is one of the most casual and longtime Minecrafters that it’s hard to see him ever being controversial.

I think the most controversial things he’s done is upgrade his computer (only after his previous one died and couldn’t be used), upgrade his mic (only after it was too far past repair that glue, tape, and wonky configurations no longer worked), upgrade his software to be compatible with more modern setups (wouldn’t surprise me if Fraps went out of service though 😂), and his wonky mouse/keyboard setup (which supposedly reduces wrist strain). Maybe also leaving Mindcrack, but he gave a good reason and I think everyone understood his perspective. Most of his fans have been supportive each step of his career though! I don’t believe anyone has turned against him anyways since he’s always been pretty casual and down to earth. I hope he sticks around for a long time, though when he chooses to retire I’m certain the whole community will support him.

Also 8:14 that isn’t vintagebeef profile picture lol. That is pause unpause but they are both Canadian so close enough

Paul soars jr was the first minecrafter on YouTube ! But Etho is definitely an OG minecrafter

One of the big factors of Etho leaving Mindcrack is that Mindcrack started moving towards a direction he didn’t like: streams and public appearances. Mindcrack started doing the charity stream where the YouTubers would get together and be on camera and play different games and stuff.
Etho didn’t want to do that, and since it was practically made a requirement, he chose to step away.
Also, when you brought up Team Canada, you had the logos backwards. You said PauseunPause and VintageBeef opposite of the logos appearing. Just an FYI

I remember when mumbo was young he went on a rant back then about etho, saying something that goes like "I cant make farms because etho already made farms" and was absolutely furious about it 🤣

The footage is all over the place. Either wrong video or information. There was even clips from Tango.

Etho and the entire Hermitcreaft (and life series) players are such a joy to watch as it's just drama free and feels like it will always be drama free

So a few years ago, I started playing Minecraft for what is arguably the first time (I’d played here and there over the years but never seriously). So when I got into the game, I didn’t know how to do anything. I found a let’s play style tutorial from Pixlriffs who walked you through everything and I really got a hang of it. Then season 9 of hermitcraft started and Pixlriffs does the hermit recap and I was just like: what is this? I credit Pixlriffs for introducing me to hermitcraft. And then, months into the season, Etho randomly appears in Bdubs basement and that’s when I first became acquainted with him

A lot of minecrafter come and go from my subscription, but Etho always stays. Just something about him and his content, I can just watch non stop. Probably because of how genuine he is that he doesn't need to clickbait and does it for fun. And his humour😂.

5:09 is one of the reason why I love watching Etho. He has never pester the viewers to subscribe or like his videos.

I've been watching Etho since 2012-ish and while the selfish side of me wishes he would upload just a bit more, I'm just grateful he's still doing this youtube gig at all.

I found Etho way back when he was doing his survival series. I had just had my parental controls taken off and despite my parents not understanding his videos, they were fine with it. Same with Stampy. Mindcrack was peak entertainment and so good.

Love that you made this, vintage beef got me into minecraft and watching youtube regularly, huge Etho fan from there. Came back to Minecraft and minecraft youtubers in the last couple years. Awesome.
