'The New Detectives' Season 9, Episode 2: In January 1998, 18-year-old college freshman Carly Martinez disappeared after a night out with Jesse Avalos and Jason Desnoyers in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Their conflicting stories quickly raised suspicions, while blood discovered in Desnoyers’ freshly scrubbed truck pointed to something far more sinister. Investigators later recovered a bloodstained jacket and shower curtain, with DNA linking Carly and both men to the evidence. A search of the desert uncovered Carly’s belongings at a burn site, before her body was finally discovered 67 days after she vanished. Both men were convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
