10:04 Their Mother died giving birth to the twins. Stack got stuck during the delivery and it ended up killing her.Their Father blamed them (mostly Stack) for the death of their mother which is why mostly beat on him.

Remmick told you why he was attracted to Sammie.  His powers could pierce the veil of life and death so he could see his kinfolk again.  Remmick is over 1,000 years old.

I aint seen a woman disagree with that ice cream analogy yet

Stack did NOT send Mary out to speak to Remmick, she volunteered and insisted!! Don’t blame Stack. He told her he could feel them out himself. Mary was doing too much.

Remmick is Irish and at least 1,000 years old. He empathizes with Sammie and the religion that was forced upon him/blacks because when Ireland got conquered, the same was done to his people.
Also another theme this movie focuses on is the music industry/capitalism. When Stack first heard Sammie’s voice, his eyes light up and he immediately thinks/says “We gonn make some money!”, instantly planning to capitalize off of Sammie’s gifts as well

Regarding the drinks, this was the tail end of the prohibition era so all Slim had access to was corn liquor (low quality booze). He probably hasn't seen something like beer in years, which is why he's almost stunned by the bottle and the offer.

Lee's right about Smoke standing up for his little brother. Mary's conversation with Sammie at the juke joint revealed that Stack got stuck during delivery and his mother died. That incident is most likely why his father primarily beat him instead of Smoke and Smoke finally killed his father to protect  his brother.

From the explanation at the beginning, Sammy was a griot, and Remmick was probably a fili. Remmick got cut off from his people when he became a vampire. Sammy had the gift to connect with spirits of the past and future, so Remmick wanted to use his gift to try and reconnect.

Stack is concerned about being with Mary because it’s 1932 and they could both be killed for a interracial relationship. Even when he told Sammie not to look at her at the train station..there was a law called reckless eyeballing  which could cause a black man to be killed for looking at a white woman for to long.

The mask that was “weird” is Zaouli or Zawli a traditional dance of Guro people. Men traditionally perform it as a homage to feminine beauty

It's Hoodoo not Voodoo.

What they mean by they brought the music with them, means from Africa. Rooted in Soul and Spirit, Black people express their passion through song Dance instruments and Psychical expression. Just like the Blues is expressed through heartache and pain as SLIM showed the ride talking about the hanging. And admittedly expressed his frustration and anger through Music and Song. This was the creation of AMERICAN MUSIC IN THE UNITED STATES.

He looking at that dump truck 😂😂😂

Lol only reaction I seen that thought Remmic was telling the truth and honest person😂😂😂

How can you not get how important music is to this movie?????🙄🙄🙄

25:34 See, there USED TO BE this thing called the "One-Drop Rule".

The "one-drop rule" is a historical, uniquely American concept that defines anyone with any known Black ancestry as Black, regardless of their physical appearance or the extent of their non-Black ancestry.

So, if you were 1/8 black (like Mary is), you would be subject to all the restrictions and limitations placed on someone who was 100% black. But Mary was raised with a white family, granting her all the benefits of being white, and her black heritage was unknown, so she was recognized as being white.

But, if Mary, a "white" woman, was PUBLICLY dating a black man, the other white folks would have rounded up and killed Mary and Stack, because it was illegal for a black man to be with a white woman in the 1930's, in The Deep South (and most of the country... but ESPEICALLY in The Deep South).

So despite being in love, to avoid that unavoidable outcome of them being killed for being together, Stack decided to not be with Mary.

Yes Remmick had a certain amount of control over the vampires.. This is first showed by how he literally bit the racism out of the Klan couple Bert and Joan.. They kept repeating things like “Fellowship and Love” because those were Remmick’s REAL thoughts and what he was actually searching for. The community our characters had built, Remmick truly wanted that. BUT Mary and Stack seeing Annie die sorta broke them free. Hence their reaction. After that when Remmick dies, they’re completely free of the hive mind. Remember Annie said vampires live on, and they’re stuck in their body forever forced to live in this hateful world

4:25 did she really say " one's got a mustache and the other one doesn't " ??????? 😳🤦🏻

It's funny watching your reactions because Im not entirely sure if you're watching the same movie we all are! 😂

I find it so interesting watching all these reactions, seeing who catches what
Cause y’all missed SOOO much, but at the same time noticed SOOO many things a lot of folks don’t lol..ppl are fascinating 🤓
