I could only imagine if this song dropped today. The internet would eat itself alive.

Versace was killed while going to his mailbox years ago... he also happened to be gay so that's where the "...checking the mail, get it checking the male" lyric came from

This is vintage slim shady lol, this ain’t Marshall right now guys lol

@hereticpunk42682 5 years ago

People would cry these days over it if he came with lyrics like this again

The industry definitely didn't push Eminem to the top. In fact, the industry and the media were trying to stop him. He was public enemy #1. It was a mixture of his talent, how unique he is (looks/style), and the perfect storm of being associated with Dre, Snoop, etc.

Eminem loves to "double down" and go all out when people criticize or hate on his actions / songs. Complain about how you hate him swearing? The next track will include every swear word in the dictionary 😂

The song is called "Criminal" he's talking about doing criminal shit but he's not seriously going to do anything. He's a conundrum. Thats the beauty.

@TheBloobster 5 years ago (edited)

He starts the song saying not to take him seriously
then the middle of the song hes murdering everyone
then the end of the song he says not to take him seriously

I love this song. It's meta. He's saying the craziest shit he can think of, but with a prologue and epilogue saying to ignore him.

Yes, like others mentioned - there are three sides to him. Slim shady is his psychotic alter ego, Eminem is him as a musician and Marshall is him in real life.

@CaddyJim 5 years ago

These thoughts are just his artistic expression, but people think he is these things in his lyrics.
People would never think the same of a Writer, Director or Actor of a Horror Film

People aren’t understanding fully. Eminem is a comedian and a rapper. He just says stupid stuff for laughs

@rikirinka713 5 years ago (edited)

You gotta do eminem-Marshall matters and eminem - stay wide awake(coldest flow ever)

Lmao. There is one thing about Slim u should know: never take his lyrics seriously, just enjoy. This whole track is sarcasm tho, he made this track especially for those ppl who took his lyrics literall. Ppl talked about Em he is a racist, homophobic, a violent prayer and all that stuff, thats why he came up with this one like:"u want it, u can get it".

Shock rap. Cause they wasn't feeling him when he first came out, so he had to let out slim shady to shock the world and he did.

@seandarrow9854 5 years ago

That ''windows tinted..'' run is the most impressive run. I bought this on it's release date and it still blows my mind.

@MISCHIEFAGAIN 5 years ago

Eminem’s whole thing was shock value. This was Eminem’s sophomore album. He was just trying to say the hardest stuff possible to compete with the first album “SSLP”.

@cosmicghostrider2968 5 years ago

This isn't Eminem or Marshall Mathers, it's straight-up slim shady

@Dani-rz8dj 5 years ago

Y’all put it together so perfectly. His music is a snapshot of the world at that time. People give him shit for his music not aging well, but it’s so far beyond aging well.

Ive learned about so much shit from his music, older rappers, pop culture, politics, history, etc just from his music. So wildly underrated

@MrAce209 5 years ago

Nah EM back then, he was about that action. The whole D-12 was about that life R.I.P. Bugz. .. The JA beef, The Murder Inc Beef, The ICP beef, Em was about that life.
