Pauline who plays Mrs Doyle was only in her early thirties when she filmed Fr Ted. Make up team knocked it out of the park

Everyone in the UK practically knows all the scripts off by heart. Father Ted is universally loved here. ❤

So glad you guys got to full episodes. It only gets better when you get to know the characters.

I met Dermot Morgan many times. He had an account in the wine shop I worked in. He was a very nice man gone too soon.

Sadly the death cards came true. Dermot Morgan who played Father Ted died of a heart attack aged 45, the day after the final episode was filmed.

I live 30 minutes from the Parochial House, actually in the Burren in Co. Clare. Still a shrine for visitors at the entrance gate, getting their Selfie with the house behind😆 Timeless.

Dermot Morgan was an established star in Ireland for years before Fr Ted. But he craved wider success, and got it with this. Sadly he wasn't able to fully enjoy it, dying at 45 a day after the final show was filmed.

Dermot Morgan died on 28th Feb 1998, and Frank Kelly (who played Father Jack) died exactly 18 years later on 28th Feb 2016. Thankfully Dougal is still with us!

I've always loved that Dougal's mittens were strung together through the sleeves of his coat, so he can't lose them!
No reactor has ever noticed this that I've seen.

John and Mary are the typical husband and wife who can't stand each other, but put on a happy face for the local priest. Very common back in the day. People constantly arguing and fighting but divorce isn't an option.

He was sent to the island for misusing money meant for charity. He always said it was just resting in his account 😂😂

@jonathanpringle8238 11 months ago

frank kelly who played father jack was a fully classical trained actor (Luvvie)

@mryan9270 11 months ago

The actor who played Fr.Jack, when you hear him interviewed was one of the best spoken and articulate people. Seeing him as Jack was such a shock to people.

@petertyson4022 11 months ago

The actor who plays Father Jack ( Frank Kelly.) was a established all round Irish actor... Tv, films, radio, stage , a writer,a singing and a musician. 😊

What Graham Norton once said about this series always stuck with me 'what British people don't realise is that Father Ted is a documentary'
He wasn't far off the truth, an exaggerated truth but the truth nevertheless.
