6:29, CW5 DeLong is someone I met in person sometime ago, and I must say he is one of the most down to earth people I have ever met, along with being very helpful with his guidance on job related skills and career pathways through the army. His respect for people at the lowest ranking enlisted jobs in his career field was unmatched, and he felt very approachable to talk to.

Great to see a discussion about the General of the Armies Rank.

The worst of those ranks is CPL

Can’t wait to join in 2031

Thx for explaining all the different level of the U.S Army ranks.
It helps understand the professionalism of the U.S. Army and why it's the most powerful army on earth.
II. Not only here the rank and promotion matter because they help one another to be motivated but as well the concept of CORP-LEADERSHIP-COOPERATION-COLLABORATION-SACRIFICE matters the most.

You have to streamline your enlisted ranks. First of all, make better use of the lower grades: make E-2 Pvt. 1st Class(which is only awarded the best achievers out of AIT, to give them a headstart in time-in-rank), call E-3s Staff Private, as they are at the crossroads of whether to go the specialist or NCO route.
For NCOs, switch the title of E-6 and E-7. Originally, the Staff Sergeant was a platoon sergeant. It also corresponds better with the private ranks(Pvt. > Pvt. 1st Class > Staff Pvt.) if you have Sgt. > Sgt. 1st Class > Staff Sgt.
For specialists, reopen the rank progression to E-7. Spc.4 will be Jr. Specialist, Spc.5 will be Sr. Specialist, Spc.6 will be Specialist 1st Class and Spc.7 will be Staff Specialist. I think you will achieve better enlisted retention this way.

I'm glad Grant got the recognition.

All I'm trying to make sure everyone safe

I think I was the ONLY O1 in the early 80s that knew how to Land Nav, apparently NO ONE of grade was a Boy Scout and thought learning to read a map was fun....

You dont need a "training class" to get E-4, its automatic

Translation to British army ranks
E1 - Recruit class 4
E2-  Private Class 3/2
E3-
      Private Class 1
E4 -
E5- Lance Corporal achieved by 3-4 years
E6- Corporal achieved by 6-8 years
E7- Sergeant achieved by 8-10 years
E8- Colour/Staff Sergeant/ Squadron Company Sergeant Major achieve by 13 - 15 years
E9- Regimental Sergeant Major achieve by 18- 20 years, to qualify for RSM pension and other ranks you must hold substantive rank for 2 clear years with 22 years service. It's rare to see 22 year Privates and LCpls, you'll be pushed to see a Corporal too, you'll usually see them getting promoted to Sgt when they're approaching retirement.

I was stationed at Ft. Ord in late 1979, we had a FTX down at Ft Irwin (before it became NTC) and stupid me I wore a brand new pair of boots to play in the desert. Well when we got back to ORD I went on emergency sick call to the TMC. I had a puss pocket the size of a half dollar on me ankle where the foot joins the ankle, I saw a spec 7 and he told me to come back on sick call the following day. I barely made it back to my barracks. The following morning I could not make morning formation because I couldn't walk. My plt sergeant came in to check on me and ordered me to sick call, he assigned to members to take me to sick call. I got there and signed in. That day there was a CW2 PA helping the doc with sick call. The CW2 called my name and I tried to walk to the exam room, I couldn't make it, so he told two other Em's to help me. Once I was in the exam room he asked me what my problem was and I told him and showed him my ankle.  He asked why I didn't report to emergency sick call the day before, I told him that I had and the spec 7 told me to come back this morning. He went to the telephone on the wall and called the hospital to send a ambulance down to TMC to get me. When he got off of the phone he asked me if I knew what blood poisoning was, I told him no I didn't. He had me pull up my t-shirt and shirt and I did. Then he asked me if I knew what the red streaks were going up my chest was. I said no I didn't he than told me that if I had waited until the next day to come in I would have been dead. Than he called the personnel SGM and told him that he need a new spec 7 or E-7 to replac e the one at the TMC, than he hung up. He stuck his head out the door a yelled for Spec 7 Coffey. Spec 7 Coffey came running in to the room, the PA asked the Spec 7 if he'd had seen me the following day, and he said that yes he had and that he told me to come back today. The PA asked him if he had ever seen anyone with blood poisoning, the Spec 7 said no he had never seen anyone with it. The PA brought him over to see my foot and leg. Then he asked the spec 7 what was wrong with me, the spec 7 said I had a blister that was infected. The PA told him that he had requested an ambulance from the hospital to take me to the hospital for emergency surgery.  The PA told him that I would be lucky to make the hospital and surgery. Than he told the spec 7 that he was done at the TMC and that he would never again treat soldiers. Than he told him to get out of the TMC. The spec 7 looked liked he had been slapped across the face. The spec 7 told the PA that he was wrong and that he couldn't get rid off him. The spec 7 grabbed the phone and called the G-1(Personnel) SGM, and told him what had happened. The SGM told him to stay right there and he would be right there. The SGM arrived at the same time as the ambulance, the PA told the two medics to load me and put me in the ambulance and take me to the hospital, I asked him if I could stay to see what happens, the SGM asked the PA if it would be ok and the PA said I could if it didn't take long.Than the SGM and the PA turned towards the spec 7, and the SGM asked the PA to begin the story.  The PA told the SGM what had happened and the SGM turned red in the face, the SGM asked the spec 7 for his version and the spec 7 told him.The PA than told the SGM what he wanted done, the SGM said that he would call the CSM at the Medical Bde and tell him about the spec 7. Long story short the spec 7 got relieved from the TMC and came down on orders for KOREA right be for winter. I had heard that he was assigned to the medical team up by the DMZ.
