Turbo yeast isn't just yeast, it's nutrient as well. By under pitching the 24 you gave it less nutrient, which might be why it stopped at a lower abv. There's not much nutrient in just sugar. You might get 20% if you double pitched the year.
If you look at the package they all made at same place in the uk even a lot of turbo russian brewers use .I still recommend u buy a still spirits air still I get really good results. You will get good outcomes.
sitting here watching and you put the white funnel in and then dump the sugar and all I could do was say OHHHhhhhhhhh and wait for the volcano to erupt...
"And then god knows where..." I'm so glad you're getting into beer. I started with those kits like you're using, and then moved onto buying spray malt and hops and making my own creations, and then eventually ditching the spray malt and mashing grains. Brewing beer is a wonderful hobby to get into, but it's messy and takes up so much space and can end up costing a fortune in equipment, so those £1 pints soon end up costing a lot more than £1 once you factor in all that stuff :D I'm really glad you're getting into brewing beer though, the world of beer is vast and intriguing. I like to brew Belgian style dubbels/tripels, German style doppelbocks and imperial stouts. If you've got a shed or an outhouse, maybe start thinking about building a brewery so your other half can have the kitchen back :D
At that mixing part you need just a regular bung so you can pickup the whole jug an given'em a good shake. Like you said there's no worries about oxygenating the brew. It's what i do with the gallon jugs i use.
Fantastic video mate, thanks as always. I've been with you since your very first one, and it's brilliant to see how you've come on. Very definitely a 'point' to this video because oddly I've just recently done exactly the same comparison, with Alcotec and Snake (which I found out about because of you!!). I've never liked the aftertaste of Alcotec, and Snake had been a real revelation. I've been brewing for 35 years, and you've taught me something 😊. Nice one mate, keep up the good work 👍
Also giving a good violets shake will aggravate gas and cause it to rise which is good for the yeast allowing them to work a little further then they would if they have to sit in it. Aggressive shaking is good so long as there's no oxygen mix.
Great to hear you're sticking with the beer for a while. There's quite a variety of the kit ones without even getting into grains and some of them are as good or better than any beer you get in a pub if you get it just right. If you're willing to spend more than the twenty quid on a kit Mangrove Jacks IPA's with the hops bag are lovely. It was the best one I managed to get right. I threw away the pack so I can't remember which it was exactly!
Halving your yeast makes little difference. Yeast double pretty quickly. With the alcotec yeast blends halving the quantity also halves the nutrients they've add to the blend. That's likely why the 24 ran slower and lower.
Should added 1 can to each of canned pineapple with the corn syrup cans and all then more turbo yeast mix. wait 24 hours and siphon into bottles for carbonation chilled in fridge for 3-5 days Turbo yeast will slow in fridge but not stop.
