That was brutal. A play box should never be that much while still in print. WotC also reduced the mythic rates this set, which is an extra feels bad to me.

I'll take my $225 and go buy another MH3 box lol

That’s still better than my box lmao. I had Gix, jumbo cactuar and Kefka as my hits 😂

Ouch… Looks like you got one of my boxes.. I bought half a case and each box was like this.. I poured a little coffee out for you my guy. Fully agree on the cost of UB products. I’m better off than most and still feel the pinch on sets I love, like final fantasy. Thanks as always Wildcat for sharing the box opening and for your thoughts!

Play Boosters were supposed to have more value yet these are pre-Set Booster mythic counts in box.

I picked up a box this week at $200. My box came in low but would have felt fine at MSRP however with the mark up just didn't quite get there on the 3 (very good) mythics I pulled (Vivi, Bahamut, KotR). A few other cards for decks and the trade binder but mostly everything else was bulk box stuff.

👍

Just like my box

Woof. I just opened a similar box to this one, though I had more mythics, so cannot really complain................ Open one more!! ;)

That was gross.  Just because you expect to get hosed doesn't make it feel any better when it happens.  I totally agree that $225 is WAY to dang much for a Standard set that is still in Legal Rotation.  That's just too much.  Yeah, yeah, everyone says 'buy singles' but man opening boxes is FUN!  Play boxes are still garbage imo.  Wizards really needs to get it together.  I know they are making crazy bank, but they are squeezing their fans to death.

Boxes printed in Japan are for some strange reason better.

Just ONE crystal in 30 packs….😮😮😮. Not that crystals are something to chase for….but…you know it’s a bad box if you only get one normal crystal 😔 as benchmark

She should have haste

Quick question, are the cards in american packs ordered backwards, the tokens and land are always the final 2 cards in uk packs.

Ouch.  Bit painful.  Was that a Japanese printed box?

I’ve opened 5 Play Booster boxes.  1 Japanese printed and the rest were Belgium printed.  The Japanese box was BY FAR the best.  8 mythics versus an average of 4 for the Belgium ones.  Good mythics too (it had a Terra, Magical Adept Borderless Foil).  I don’t think there were any borderless foils in the Belgium boxes.

I wonder if I just got a great Japanese printed box or is that a general trend?

This is the reality of mtg box opening, and likely a factor in why POA quit..

wizards have realized that the new players will jump the shark for artificially fluff boxes with low pull rates and reskins of old cards that haven't been reprinted.

I was excited for lorwyn but mostly the same thing will happen, 400+ collector booster boxes ,  pusedo old cards remade with quirky mechanics,  bonus sheets , anime reskins.

EOE will be the last I buy a box for and even I'm trading in cards so the price doesn't hurt my wallet, it's insanity

$200+ is just too much for a play box.  You pulled three awesome mythics and didn’t come close to box value.  You could have pulled three not-so-great mythics and gotten thoroughly wrecked.  WoTC needs to print more play boxes clearly.
