Today, I’m attempting something we’ve never done before on High Peak Autos — a full car rescue.

This mouldy Ford Mondeo cost just £150 and was destined for the scrapyard. In the previous video, I thought it was beyond saving, but after reading all your comments, I decided to give it one final chance.
The scrapyard is booked for 48 hours’ time, so my dad and I have just two days to repair it, clean it up and get it through an MOT. If it passes, the Mondeo survives. If it fails, it’s going for scrap.

In my head that 62 plate Mondeo is still fairly modern and new. The styling on those has aged well.

We have a 2008 2.0 Titanium as a spare car/van in work and its well over 300k miles and still as reliable as the day it came out of the showroom. They can be kept running indefinitely. And despite what people think about the quality of life in teh UK in the 2020s, there are still working people who are literally living week to week and still buy these cars for £2-3k and less. These old bangers still take a man to work every day and feed his family.

Never been so excited to see a youtube video as its got my car on it! Im happy you saved it as it drives great.
Got it booked in for a cambelt and water pump in 2 weeks and have a stereo upgrade on the way for android auto. If you ever wanna do a follow up video on it just let me know!
Edit: I was the customer who bought the car from HPA. I didnt sell it to them.

I can't beleive a car that good would be scrapped just because of discs 😭 So pleased to see you bring it back! I hope that it lasts longer than 12 months. Awesome content.

I also have a 2012 Ford Mondeo Titanium X Sport and I absolutely love it. I can't believe you called it "just an old Mondeo"!
One of the best looking family cars Ford ever made. Mine is now on 147k miles with only 1 advisory in the last 11 years for rear brake pads getting low.
These cars are epic if looked after, and I'm so glad you saved this one. What a steal at £150! 👌

I have one of these that's just ticked over 195,000 miles. Bought it 7 years ago on half the miles for £4.5k, and it's been the most reliable car I've never known.

Comfortable, very economical, and cavernous boot - I have no intention of replacing for a very long time!

Let me tell you - THIS Ford Moneo model saved my life. I was on the A1M motorway, heading to an appointment in Bradford from Harrogate. It was January mid-late afternoon, Sun Bright but very low in the sky - we've all been there - It was a long, sweeping curve in the motorway that took me under a motorway over pass/bridge, that meant the underside of the bridge was very much in dark shadow. I was overtaking as I entered this section of road. A guy in a Citroen Berlingo Van had broken down IN THE FAST LANE UNDER THE BRIDGE IN THE DARK. My of-side hit his stationary vehicle at somewhere between 70 to 75 MPH. I never even saw him. Thankfully, he was no longer in his vehicle. My Mondeo span like a weather vain after VERY HUGE BANG. Astonishingly, I walked away with a blistered right index finger (from air bag), and very, very little in the way of whiplash injury. Ford Engineers: THANK YOU FOR MY LIFE.
