I think the cops just wanted to know about the tuk tuk, people were just being friendly and you ran away hahahaha

You were their innocent point of interest. They wanted to visit and know your story. You were too preoccupied with your dog and misunderstood the intent. Welcome to the interior of Brasil. Folks are kind, gentle, and generous. They like to sit and yak for an hour with almost anyone.

That was the most mineiro thing ever.
She was talking, with the thickest accent mind you, about acquaintances she shared with the old man. If you talked to them they would feed you so much you'd be full for a week

Happy Mothers Day everyone!

Minas people are like the friendliest people of Brazil, like we brazilians are already super friendly but Minas we call the grandma's house of Brazil, the cops were honestly just curious about the Tuktuk and you. Is normal for mineiros(people from Minas) to just chill and chat with strangers on the street and even invite you for their homes or for a beer, you can even get adopted by a random family and they will fill you up with great homemade food and ask you to take a nap there hahaha.

As a Brazilian from Belo Horizonte, man... I have so much respect for your journey. May God bless you! 🙏

Cops in these small towns are usually friendly, those were really just curious haha...it might be useful for you to learn how to pronounce some sentences in Brazilian Portuguese like "por favor não se aproxime muito" (please don't get too close"). Also unlike Spanish we almost always use the subject, so "ela morde" instead of just "morde" when you're saying Patti bites might be more effective, especially with old people who already have bad hearing. Really nice videos.

Mineiro here! We're the most CURIOUS people on the face of the Earth. We Brazilians as a whole are not the most respectful of personal space and privacy on this world, as you seem to have noticed. I know it may come as a nuisance for people brought up in other cultures, but none of those people in the video meant you any harm, it's typical that people in such small towns are outright bored with their own lives and, try to mitigate it by knowing a little too much about the lives of anyone else.

I really like your videos, dude!

kkkk gringo cagando de medo com os véio e policiais mineiros. Incrível como a barreira linguística faz a gente perder coisas legais. Se ele tivesse ficado mais um minuto era capaz de terem oferecido um pão de queijo kk.

The majority of cops are cool, you will find some rude ones but they usually are nosey not every day you see a gringo and a yellow tuk tuk driving thru your country side.
I'm so glad you back to Brazil, the first trip got the accident was not a good experience but now it's been a blast, enjoy our country and be safe.

Besides the fact that Minas Gerais has so many stories in every city, we 'mineiros' are very welcoming and love a good chat. If the conversation is good and we feel comfortable, we’ll even invite you for a 'cafezinho' with cheese bread and some local cheese. Welcome to Brazil, welcome to Minas Gerais! The people here welcome you with open arms. I love your videos, I feel like I'm traveling with you, and I admire how much you value life and the little things. May God light your path and protect you!

Oh man, I'm from Belo Horizonte and I've never been to Diamantina 😅 Now I have to do it. Thanks for showing the beauty of my country ❤

Ryan, here’s a tip: go to a copy shop or a place that has preprinted signs. Get a plaque that says “CUIDADO! CÃO BRAVO! “ install it on your buggy. No more issues! You are probably far north of Minas at this point. You ain’t seen nothing yet. In Central America and Mexico you will have valid reasons to worry. Until then, enjoy Brasilian hospitality and friendliness while you can.

dont worry they were being friendly, though id agree with you that they were too close. diamantina is a turistical town so at first they were curious about the car, but nothing exaggerated, staying in that position around the point of interest and chating about anything is a very "mineiro" thing to do😆. btw the cops didnt seemed to be worried with the car, they were just yapping about someone with the thickest interior accent you can imagine lol. hope you have a good time here in brazil friend, boa viagem

As a brazilian I gotta say, that woman  is the cutest police officer ever 😂

esqueceram de te contar que nós é tudo jacú! even the cops!! there are no tuk-tuks in brazil... they were just curious. the region is a very safe and welcoming place. sometimes too welcoming for some cultures. they spooked you but what they really wanted was to check out the tuk tuk and maybe feed you some coffee and pão de queijo (some cachaça too... the best in the world) 😅

PS: not a worm. that was  a Taturana, which is the larval stage of a moth

The most beautiful landscapes in Brazil you will find in Minas Gerais! Good travels my friend. God bless.

Old people in Brazil usually are kinda stubborn :P

Also cops does that a lot around here, stop people out of curiosity. Specially in smaller towns. You are doing well greeting everyone :D

Some GPS send people to bad roads even when there are good roads to the same destination.

5:52 They were letting you know that you had driven into a one-way street!
