Quick correction: In the Galaxy Being, Carol is Allan Maxwell’s wife, not his sister—good catch by those who noticed!

Are you kidding?! I was obsessed with The Outer Limits when I was in grade school! I never missed an episode and remembered especially the one especially with David McCallum. 🌞 I also loved The Twilight Zone and One Step Beyond. 🌞

"Behold, Eck!" This episode has stuck with me from childhood. Great series. Never missed an episode. And love to return to it every now and again for brilliantly written and executed sci-fi.

Best epilogue IMO: “The Invisables.” Control Voice: “You do not know these men, you may have looked at them, but you did not see them. They are the wind that blows newspapers down the gutter on a windy night…and sweeps the gutter clean.” Sooo heavy !!!

The intro with it's commanding voice leading to viewers to hyperfocus on the changing visuals of the moon was hypnotic.

The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, One Step Beyond. Those were my bread and butter growing up. It would be the rare few that I didn’t catch first run. Anthology shows were better fair than series at the time. “Television writers” weren’t a thing at the time. These shows drew on short story writers and novelists. As a consequence, the story telling was more up front. I still think it’s a great format.

The Zanti misfits is perfectly terrifying. Using mankind as executioners.

I was just a baby when it first aired but when it came out in re-runs, I remember not wanting to watch it alone at night because that intro freaked me out so much. During the day I was good but after dark alone I just could not handle how it made me feel. Of course, I watched it anyways and boy were the nightmares worth it! SCAREY!

The exteriors of the "Zanti Misfits" were filmed at Vasquez Rocks, north of Valencia, California. This was a popular location for many science fiction shows, especially "Star Trek".

"The Galaxy Being" was the very first episode of "Outer Limits" ever shown. I saw it the night it was aired, and it scared the begeezus out of me! I was just a kid, and I had trouble sleeping for weeks after!
Then came the spring, and repeats, and I watched it again, but this time laughed at it!
It wasn't anywhere as scary the second time.

Leonard Nimoy also starred in the remake of I, Robot in the second series but played the role of the defense attorney!

I have great fondness for The Galaxy Being, first seen just before I turned 10. The serious discussion with the earthling was so cool, and turned funny when the being asked, "What is below eyes?... holes in face?" First time I had heard about the "great spiral Andromeda", which I learned was something for real after visiting the library... helped lead me to a lifelong fascination with astronomy.

I grew up watching this show. LOVED IT! These kinds of shows not only piqued the imagination, they were more intelligent and thought-provoking than the drivel kids watch today on social media.

As a toddler my father ,who loved horror, watched a episode of outer limits, one with a glowing man.
I dunno which it was, but i do know me and my sister was given a bath after watching it , I started screaming as I saw the glowing man coming for us thru the bathroom wall.
Happy to say, I am a horror fan to this day.

This was outstanding! Great work. Just imagine if the Hollywood suits and bean counters would have allowed this brilliant show to get a bigger hold of the audience? They just had to be patient.

The episode that I feel is missing here is another featuring Robert Culp: THE ARCHITECTS OF FEAR. Truly heartbreaking as Culp's scientist Alan is turned into "a scarecrow," a creature so horrifying that his arrival on earth is supposed to unite the world against this one creature. The creature costune was so disturbing that many local ABC affiliates blacked the screen out when the creature appeared! Combined with Geraldine Fitzgerald as Alan's unexpectedly pregnant wife and possibly Dominic Frontiere's best score for the series, this episode makes me cry every time I watch it. 😢
