I lost count of how many times i've seen poison damage explained. Maybe one day i'll fully understand it.

Kano is such a saint for putting up with the Llama. 😊

11:08 the actual damage is rounded down to 312 but the displayed damage text number is incorrectly rounded to the nearest point like the basin says. its an old inconsistency in the code

every poe 1 endgame mechanic is like d2 poison dmg

I remember when PSN damage small charms was the PVP Meta back in 1.09

Hey, Pavke here. Thanks for shoutout again Mr Llama!

Aah. Playing a poison plague zon back in the day felt so weird.. somehow her minimal damage scaled faster than her maximum damage. I ended up doing 19k-16k damage.

Poison damage in Diablo 2 is always weird to me. Brevik and the OG devs took "damage over time" seriously.
For example, when you put points into Plague Javelin, both the damage and the length of the poison effect increase... which is very unfortunate. I don't want to wait for a day for the skill to deal all of its poison damage...

thank you mr llama, i never understood poision damage addition until now. Had to watch it 3 times to understand though :P

"What build were you thinking of going?" "Poison." "What's your highest level of math you have completed?" "...Why?" links video

This game is so confusing, and I love it lol

"thats not how math works" hahaha

10:55 its definitely how rounding down negative numbers works and as you said "poison damage is essentially like a negative life regeneration"

"Diablo when you run into that it just truncates off the decimal rounds it down to the nearest integer"

Truncation and rounding down are different operations. truncation is rounding towards zero, rounding down is towards negative infinity so this is a contradictory statement.

11:00 it's probably using the non-truncated values when calculating, so not 100.0 but the 100.8 you mentioned earlier. So then it goes over 313 and rounds down to 313

Awesome work. Thank you❤. Planned to build a multishot bowa with ~30 psn small charms, trang gloves, bramble, venom and so on. Now I knew that + %psn dmg doesn't apply on range attacks and trang gloves also only increase psn SKILL dmg, and I won't use Venom, what I definitely would have without this guide 😢 thx

Fun fact about poison damage - in D2/LoD the polish translation of the game had "lightning damage" instead of "poison damage", so you'd have gear with "X lightning damage over 2 seconds" :D

Wow this is timing; yesterday I started my first character since around the game first came out to try a poison build.

Back in the days, pre 1.10, maybe even before 1.09, all ranged attacks were bugged (or featured?) to ADD all lengths instead of average the durations. Poison was very fun then, especially since each tal/p.emerald stacked duration 🎉

Ty Lama for this topic!

Excellent stuff!
