i feel like i want to defend him for making that comment, but i know i shouldnt. it not okay to say that to a girl, and she has every right to be offended.

He knew he had screwed up as soon as he said it.

He...tried to make it sound like a compliment. "You're so pretty you should be dumber?" What? Please shut up.
Also, they're DRESSED LIKE HIM.

That was quite a bizarre comment to make about the girls. Surely he knew that would offend them?

hahahah THEY LOOK HEALTHY

i am so extremely glad that those ladies asked him questions like that. they're so rare and matty just couldn't make up something simple to say. they made him think a bit more although i'm aware he already does try to answer thruthfully in interviews. but this one was unique and definitely worth watching.

Great interview! & I'm glad they asked the questions they did, I honestly think he jst got caught off guard with those questions and didn't know how to answer so he tried to play it cool with flirting.. George is usually the one to put his ego in check.

He totally knew that comment would offend her, he was just a little annoyed with her questions. Still you can tell he loved that kind of questions because they gave him the opportunity to speak his mind

Oke after watching this I think.... Matty meant by his comment: I get interviewed by  a lot of pretty girls who dressed up nice but every question they ask is the same old same old, he was impressed that she was a "pretty and nice dressed" girl who also showed interest and asked great questions. It just got lost in translation, because the minute he said the part about "dressed like that" she was offended but he tried to compliment her. My point of view. No hate, I know it was sexist to begin with it, but he expressed it wrong, boys have to learn to

Been binge watching his interviews for a while now....was a little putt off by the comment he made; I can understand the interviewer being offended. I know he didn't mean to be malicious, it was more like a fail at flirting. I bet his mouth gets him in trouble a lot..lol

honestly still don't know what his point was when he said Do  you know how many people I meet everyday

i don't think he meant that comment in a malicious way if you see it in context. i've seen it on tumblr just the words he said and not any background info and i thought it was quite bad but now i really don't think he meant it in a bad way.

literally everything he says makes you kinda think, i love it.

I'm glade that didn't ask the same damn questions

These questions are coming from different angles than most the other interviews and I love Matty's reactions to them.  Well done ladies!

everybody judges a person for its appearance it's impossible to not make a judgement about a person at first sight... he just spoke his mind

He was wrong to generalize. Girls are just as intelligent/smart as boys, there's absolutely no connection between appearence/gender and intelligence/wittiness.

But I don't think we need to crucify him and say he's an asshole or whatever. People make mistakes, it's normal. The girl was right for saying she was offended, so he could know he was wrong!

He probably meets girls that get dolled up then "play dumb" to impress him/have sex with him all of the time. So he believes in a certain stereotype, which a lot of boys his age do.

I get what he meant, although it was disrespectful, indeed, since the girls in this interview were very serious about it and asked great questions. It just wasn't the big deal people are making it up to be.

Although its great I think, that we're taking time to talk about things like gender equality. What is not great is how some people are getting up in their moral horses, thinking they're so much better than others, pointing fingers at everyone to make themselves feel better.

He made a mistake, it was fucking stupid, hopefully he learnt something from this, now let's move on. I'm a girl but this won't stop me from listening to his music and enjoying it.

You guys just need to stop putting him in such a pedestal. He's a guy on his 20s, not fucking Gandhi. He is probably not the wise angel people think he is, but that's ok. He's a great guy, surely not a perfect one, that has a lot to learn in his life.

Great interview, by the way!

Matty reminds me of vintage mick jagger from the very beginning of the stones except Matty seems to have a stronger perception and grip on reality

these questions were some of the best questions that I have heard being asked in one of their interviews, loved it

"I don't know what happiness means" and now he's got a song called Happiness 🥺
