I prefer my Belt to be the Same Exact Color as my Shoes/Boots, but IF they are Not going to be the Same Exact Color then I prefer the Belt to be on the Lighter Side and the Footwear to be the Darker of the 2 Colors.

The best advice my college girlfriends mom gave me. If you don't know, better to be overdressed than overlooked.

You're certainly right about the hairs lol. Being 48yo I trim my nose, outer ears, ear lobes, and eyebrows as part of my Sunday evening prep for the week. I've seen older men with their nose hair growing into their mustache! I'm not going to be that guy.

It gets easier with time and practice. Style is in those little details.

Shoulder seam AND Collar gap (should be NO collar gap!). Thanks for reminding us, John

Probably the best gentlemans clothing advice coming out of the US that I’ve seen however a glaring omission was trouser length. There seems to be a trend in America for slightly shorter trousers where the bottom barely touches the shoe. There’s supposed to be a single break in the trousers as seen on the best dressed.I know some would disagree but I always refer to certain established British publications who are quite clear on the subject

Rule #13--Always used this for job interviews; Always dress one notch better than the job requires. If you are overdressed, you can always dress down--take off your jacket, loosen your tie, roll up your sleeves. However, if you are underdressed, you can't dress "up."

7:43 love this. So true. Less is more. One statement piece, per outfit.

This is a great video, John. Stuff I've wanted to know but no one has ever mentioned.

This was so worth it. Thank you.

I would say you can buy these tie and pocket square sets if you find one with a pattern you really like AND don't intend to wear them at the same time. A bigger issue with those gift sets is that the accessories often are made with synthetic materials. Polyester ties usually look too cheap and shiny after you've started to care more about fabric materials.

Three button suits (when standing): bottom button unbuttoned always; middle button buttoned always; top button buttoned when wearing a bow tie or no tie, unbuttoned when wearing a straight tie.

Thanks John! Learned a few rules in this one.

Hi! Really appreciate the level of details covered here. Just one grooming advice I like to highlight is oral hygiene. Another one that no one will EVER mention to you if you have bad breath! They will just politely excuse themselves, and they will REMEMBER to avoid you in the future.
