As a Swede I can confidently say there was always something off with Manzanita Post, it had Norwegians living there

I swear this man can just sense when people are about to eat food and that greatly impacts his upload schedule

If I’m ever in a horrible accident that leaves me without any of my memories I will at least be slightly grateful because I can play red dead redemption two for the first time, a second time.

Personally I like to think the Skinners were so perplexed when their threats were met with ‘mhm.’ ‘Okay’ ‘ash’ and ‘huuuh…’ that they kinda just forgot about being violent

As a Norwegian i can say its the most accurate depiction of us Norwegian i have seen in all forms of media

I live 20 kilometers from Lyngdal and how surprised i was to hear this random town be mentioned in a Rockstar game

Just saying, Nils or «Niels» not talking much, just taking it on good faith that they will pay and wanting the business over and done with is just textbook norwegian.
We are not good at small talk, nor do we wish to, and its a high trust society, so I just assumed he was a typical newcomer.
Love the fact that they put it in though, we are not good for american type drama.

For context, old viking tales are what most people would call a summary.

«He went to the mead hall, he drank mead, he cleaved his neighbor in two, he went home». Easy does it.

“Okay” - Neils

I remember back in the old days people thought there was a werewolf in the tall trees in general good times

His “ok ok ok.” Without eye contact was him knowing he was talking to a corpse. He has to dehumanize you.

I'm enjoying the heavy use of "Dutch" angles in the game footage

As a Norwegian. Nils’s behavior. Especially the limited vocabulary is perfectly normal. Back then we still had relatively high English literacy rates. But we are very socially awkward and isolated people who prefer to keep conversations short. And with the rest of the people there being Norwegian. Its very possible the fact they were sad because they were missing their country. We tend to smile with our mouths. Not necessarily our eyes. We are friendly people once you get to know us.

I feel like it could be the Skinners just leave Manzanita Post alone because Manzanita trades with them. Presumedly the Skinners hunt animals too. Obviously most Skinners can't trade with Blackwater, but Manzanita are a small outpost full of quiet folks that, most importantly, don't wanna talk and don't ask you questions. They're a perfect place for the Skinners to offload any game they kill and don't eat, or any goods they pilfer that they don't want. That makes the most sense to me.

Day 10 billion of asking rdr2 youtubers to explain the cave with the hermit devil guy with a branching off cave in that cave with a deep pit that can be heard singing/humming from the bottom of it

If anyone wonder what they are saying in Norwegian
7:44  Take care of yourself
7:50  I would like to enjoy it. But I can’t do it and VI SEES mean like: See you around

I met a Pennsylvania Dutch amish family who spoke much like Nils. Good folks, they helped us build a cabin.

My friends dad used to speak Spanish but can’t now but met a Spanish tourist one time and understood everything they said but couldn’t speak Spanish himself

'What are the odds that someone would move in speaking Norwegian' - not even implausible, though! The real-world US had a large influx of immigrants from Scandinavian countries in the 19th century. I think the largest groups were Swedish and Norwegian, I can't remember off the top of my head. There are a lot of nods to that in historical fiction where someone always has a Swedish neighbor farming the plot nearby or something LOL. Very cool to see details like that make their way into this game 🙂

Manzanita Post, reminds of Minnesota. “I’m going to be nice, but you also know I’m just being nice, to be nice so I can get along with my day”

Nils actually seems pretty nice
