"Oh yeah I apologize every time I admit a patient to medicine. I am on eight apologies today" said by ortho SPOT ON hahahahahahaha

In Spain the classic joke among surgeons about anesthesists is: an almost slept man taking care of an almost awake man.

When doctors from outside our facility call for a patient consult, I page the on call physicians. I know they groan when they see my number pop up. My favorite response so far from an on call physician is, "Why you always picking on me? I thought we were friends!" by our trauma surgeon.

at age 8 i was in surgery for a broken arm. last thing i remember before going under was someone asking, "should i put her to sleep now?" and, as people distribute the instruments and tools to each other across and over me, the surgeon curtly replied, "she's not asleep already?"

"This is wellness, I'm getting...well"

As an EM resident I can relate to these on an emotional level.... I went a whole month without seeing the sun because our ED doesn't have windows and we work 12 hr shifts. It was dark when I arrived at the hospital and when I left. For all the soon to be interns I recommend lots of vitamin D and melatonin otherwise you'll get burned out fast.

"I don't want that liability nor my name on the note."

How does he look more jacked as the ER doc than Surgery being assimilated?!

It is actually taught at my institution that med students SHALL scrub longer than the attending. we just started our clinical M3 rotations

I've worked in places where the sign over the sink said "all employees must atop crying before returning to work."

Certificate?  Hell, if he worked at VA, he'd be immediately named Employee of the Month.

When I asked fellow cardiology/trauma folks in the hospital what they thought my life would be like in primary care, they chanted in unison, “Boring.”

Yes. It at times, has been boring. But, after seven years of acute care, a pandemic, and grad school at the same time, … boring is beautiful. Our goal is to manage chronically I’ll patients closely so the don’t go into the hospital. Usually it works, not always, but mostly it works. It’s like Happy Gilmore. “Oh, so I can just put the ball directly in the hole on the first swing? Yeah that’s easier. Imma do that from now on.”

Also, had a BLAST buying coloring books and crayons for the kiddos that join the visits. And telling someone who has been trying for YEARS to get pregnant that their test is positive…. My kind of “boring.” Oh, and nobody coded and no coworkers tried to haze me. I loved my work in the hospital but I don’t miss what I had to endure to do that work.

Oh Lord! Things haven't changed in the last 60 years!!! THE WORST ARE THE NEUROSURGEONS!
They ALL seem to have a Ben Casey complex. Dr Glaucomflecken is my hero. As reported by a retired health care worker who started as a surgical tech in Nam (3rd field hospital) and a few years later became a perfusionist. I love how he describes his rotation to pathology. Still waiting for Tropical Medicine!

We had to scrub to enter the NICU when our twins were born, and it was always awkward when a doctor was standing next to us because yeah - you worry about being judged lol.

Retired CNM here.  After almost 50 years in the medical field I can truthfully say these vignettes are so spot on! And so, so funny!

Holy shit, the ED doc in full bike gear XD I knew someone like that, and he was the nicest guy

As a radiologist, can confirm it is VERY disconcerting when the lights are on in the reading room.  We do our best work in the dark... 😮

Retired doc here and Glaucomflecken is indeed spot on.  Love it.  Also, thanks to David for adding translation.

I'm a scrub tech, soon to be surgical first assistant, and I find his videos are hilariously accurate!!!
