when I wrap my washed clothes into a towel, I always step on the towel roll, so more moisture get out of the clothes.

A useful tip i learnt from hostel roommates.is to stuff your wet shoes with newspaper to help them dry faster. The newspaper acts as a wick to draw the moisture out of the shoe.

As always some great tips here.

If your clothes hangers have a crossbar loop the clothes over it, hold the bottom end of the item in one hand and twist the hanger winding up the wet clothing - you'll be amazed how much water will come out. Be careful with delicate clothes. If you have a hiking pole with you then you can do the same thing with it.

Hiking poles can also be used as drying racks - a lot of European windows open inwards. Open the windows, rest the pole across the tops and there's your clothes line. You can hang tee shirts and underwear by putting the pole through sleeves/leg openings.

If the pole is one of the sprung types you can sometimes wedge it between the walls on either side of the window opening or, if there are two chairs available put them back to back and rest the pole across them.

When tent camping in wet weather, it’s really difficult to dry clothes all the way. What I have started doing is, after they’ve dried about 80% of the way, is hanging/laying them in my car (i.e. overnight) to fully dry. It works like a charm and it’s a lifesaver with three small kids.

Oh my gosh, I've had a set of those rubber-coated wires for years, and never thought of using them for this. What a useful suggestion, just in time for my next trip! Thank you.

Instead of the coated wire you showed we use a piece (well, mostly two pieces) of thick Bonsai wire. S-hooks and a cloth line are a must, yet the cloth line can sometimes stay in the rucksack because it turned out that my walking sticks laid horizontally can also do the trick and are sometimes even more easy to place somewhere in the room than fixing a line. They are also good for drying more heavy and bulky stuff like wet rucksacks or for hanging wet shoes in the air ... Yet they get minus points for being to thick to use cloth pins ...
If your Ts don't dry fast enough it can help to hang them widely opened, anyhow, so that front and back are not touching each other and air can circulate in between. Means for example, hang your cloth line somehow parallel or V-shaped and hang the Ts head-down, attaching the end of the front of the T to one line and fix the backside to the other line. If you run out of cloth pins run the parelleled cloth line through the inside and through the arms of the T and dry it horizontally. Or use two walking sticks for the same trick.
Chopsticks of a good lenght (my bamboo chopsticks are 26 cm long) can act as improvised cloth hangers. Also a collapsible selfie stick can do the trick. If it is long enough, you can use it even for 2 T-Shirts. But we have usually also three or four of these very simple wire hangers with us which we got once from a cloth store, they kept them in a box near the door for everybody to take them for free.
Finally, if you find nothing to hang your hangers or your clothes on, but you have an umbrella with you, open it, place it somehow between furnitures or so, and hang your items on the rips of the umbrella. Minus points for blocking the AC air stream or the one coming from the ceiling fan.

Hi Maggi, I sometimes hang the clothes for 2 or 3 hours and then iron them for 5 minutes which reduces the drying time by several hours. Thank you for your tips as always.

If you have a bathroom with heated floors, turning it on when you have items hanging in the bathroom will help them dry faster.

I've already done most of the things you mention, but there were a couple of new ideas, too, so thank you.  Something I tried once on my most recent travel was letting a t-shirt dry on the line or hangar until the top was dryish but the bottom still wet, and then reverse it, hanging the t-shirt by the bottom to let the water seep in the other direction.  It seemed to help, maybe because more of greater surface area containing water that needed to evaporate. I will be giving that method further tests.  I also bought a Warmco fan recently.  It's a little bigger than I really want to carry for airline travel, but I'll give it a try.   I bought the version that doesn't have a battery.  No need to carry around a heavy battery that serves only one purpose when I can run it off of a USB cable or use one of my multi-purpose battery banks to run it when there is no nearby outlet for a USB charger.

Hi Maggi, I already use all of your tips for laundry, they are so good and work so well genuinely thank you so much. Your new black fan, I have the tripole version, I hung my laundry in the hotel room and managed to point the fan at it on full blast while it was still charging so the battery would not run out and it reduced the drying time by at least half.  Completely made laundry so much easier, all inspired by you 😊😊😊

I’ve never really had an issue with finding spots to dry clothes in a hotel,  but last month I rented a campervan in Iceland for two weeks and made the mistake of hanging a bunch of things to dry inside overnight with the heater on low….and then I woke up to what felt like a sauna 😅 it was so hot and humid and absolutely nothing was dry 🙃 I think my biggest mistake was waiting until late evening to wash my clothes, and then I washed too many things at once. But the bright side was that I got some of the Nite Ize flexible rods after you mentioned them in a previous video, and they worked so well to hang things on using magnetic hooks and the built-in D rings on the walls of the van! I got lucky that the following day was super warm and sunny so when I set off on a hike in the morning, I left everything hanging up with the van parked in the sun and the windows cracked for airflow. You could definitely see my underwear hanging up in the van but I didn’t care lol. I came back from the hike to 90% dry clothes that were fully dry by the time I got to my next campsite! Lessons learned, wash things early to start drying asap, and don’t overload a confined space with too many wet things 😂

I love your helpful vlogs.   We  always travel with two inflatable coat hangers.  When  inflated they separate the front and back of a shirt/t-shirt  to increase the ariflow, and also help with creasing.   When deflated they fold up very small. and flat.  Korjo is the brand I use here in Australia. They are very durable also.

Love these tips. I use a clothes line that consists of two elastic cords, twisted around each other (e.g  Globite Pegless Clothes Line). No pegs or beads needed. I also use carabiner clips. I change the hooks on the clothes line to the carabiner clips, wrap the line around a post and clip the carabiner clips on the clothes line. Helps when anchor points are not adequate for the clothes line hooks and is more secure in windy conditions. You can put the carabiner clips through belt loops on pants to hand them. I also put some of those wire pegs you have on a carabiner hook to hang underwear / socks / swimmers. Plus some travel towels have a loop on one corner. You can use a carabiner clip through the loop to hang your travel towels. Small folding clothes hangers are also good. OH, one tip to NOT ever do: I have seen insurance claims where tourists have hung things from the fire sprinklers. DO NOT do this. It can activate the sprinkler, flooding the building and calling emergency services - very expensive outcome, as you become liable for it all.

I almost always ask for a couple of extra towels and hangers when I check-in.  I have found most items dry overnight or during the day when out sightseeing. The hairdryer works pretty great too in a pinch!

I guess it depends on the type of travel you're doing. Bcos I mostly travel solo, I usually have plenty of extra towels and once I roll up my clothes in a towel and squeeze out the moisture my clothes aren't dripping anymore. But I have become a pro at not taking clothes that don't dry overnight after handwashing.
Although I have occasionally used the hairdryer to speed up dry time of my bamboo undies - take far longer to dry than the thin lacy ones but are much more comfortable and odour-suppressing for long travel days

A hair dryer dries socks and other small articles of clothing in minutes.  If you don't have your own travel hair dryer, you can often borrow one from the hotel.
