I love how he wanted an affordable board.. legit has my respect

Sellout or not he did a frontside 270 kf noseblunt on a rail

One thing is Greg lutzka is a smart businessman from what I see 😮

Shaq sold 450 million shoes Via Wal Mart.. Wise business decision Lutzka

this is not selling out to walmart, this is just selling to walmart

He's right about the Nash thing.  My first board was a Nash and that thing didn't roll for sht.  I was 5 so I just figured I was too young/small and I needed to wait until I was older.  Getting a bad board as a kid and thinking you're the problem can really shut you down quick.

Man, 10 years ago, i would've called him a sell-out. But hes totally right and i think its gonna help the core industry in the end. Skateboarding isnt what it used to be times are changing but shit like this is for the better. Good to see a see a well respected pro bringing this sort of thing to the table instead of some greedy corporation

Seen this man blast the fattest frontside flip over a fire hydrant. The slope for the parking lot driveway in my old apartments was super steep on the left side from earthquake damage. It made the perfect launch ramp. But as kids we never even imagined that getting over the hydrant was even possible. That blew my little 12 year old mind, then we took a picture with bro and he signed some of our shoes and boards 😂. My homie Jason ran back to his pad in the complex to come back with a sharpie 💯

What a great clip. Hearing Lutzka talk about all that just brought back so many memories. Got my first board at Walmart in '87, orange, fish tail, with the tiger striped gripe. Got a real board about a year later because the bearing seized up. I never even saw a magazine or anyone doing a modern/real trick until like '91-'92. It's crazy how far things have come.

My biggest complaint as a kid was Wheels and bearings. I could get by with a flat/non concave cheap board and plastic trucks. But Plastic wheels and abec3 bearings, just made it unable to ride for real. For my birthday my mom took me to a local skate shop and finally got some real wheels and bearings. Element wheels and redz.

That first set up is a different feeling 💯🫡

I'm glad Chris brought it up at the very end, because it's something I was thinking about the whole time: if there's going to be entry level boards in these stores, I'd rather them be designed/provided by core guys in the industry. Yes, they may not be top of the line, but you can at least feel confident in knowing the board is quality wood, the trucks are metal, the wheels are urethane, the bearings *work*. And like Greg pointed out, if a kid's first experience is on a plastic hunk of crap, you're running the risk of turning them off from skating. This is rad.

these clips have given me a lot of respect for lutzka, it's really admirable to be focused on making skating as accessible as possible. whether or not we want to admit it nearly all of us started on walmat boards and it's awesome that he's making them usable

I had so many walmart boards from my family members that i gave them away to anyone with the interest in skating. I was the only one around my neighborhood skating. It wasnt the best area and a lot of kids from overseas. Theres something about skateboards that calls people. Those cheap walmart boards brought a lot of joy thats all i can say

Good job Greg, “hardcore” skaters will claim selling out, but it’s a great entry level board and great for low income families to hook their kids up with something decent. When fast food is 20 bucks a meal, a skateboard for 30 bucks is making a lot of kids (and parents) day.

Love how he’s saying, it’s a great affordable introduction board. He’s not saying it’s the best skateboard on the market. Dude is genuinely trying to help skating.

saw this dude absolutely destroy a competition in a colliseum in like 2008

Wht would this make him a sellout? He made a solid product for kids whose first board will be coming from walmart.  Thats about the coolest thing an old pro could do for the next generation.

Darkstar used to make really solid completes for kids for like $35. I still have one in the house.

Something that helps more people skate (especially kids or families on a budget) is 10/10 in my book. I love this.
