Digger would’ve had a hat trick if it weren’t for Safe Hands. Absolutely phenomenal keeping.

We absolutely battered Arsenal in the first half, some of Seaman's saves were world class!

Great hectic 100mph game with moments of class. That Arsenal defence, including Seaman, was one of the best ever.
Who knew it was the start of the long 30 year wait...

I remember this game well and it felt like the tide had turned for us that season

Remember vwatching this on.itv bk.in the day being gutted we lost. Battered Arsenal most of this game yet knew the title was gone.

1989 was still fresh back then so every game with Arsenal was a CUP FINAL.....

The high point of the George Graham era at Arsenal. This was David Seaman's first season at Arsenal. Seaman was superb all season ( except the 2 slight mistakes from Gascoinge and Lineker in the first FA cup semi-final v Spurs @ Wembley) and from 1990 up until 1996 (when he sustained a collar bone  injury from Ole gunnar solskjaer at Old Trafford in an unlucky 1-0 defeat) was one of the greatest goal keepers ever ( minus his small mistake in the 1995 European cup winners cup final in Paris ). Up there with the great Pat Jennings and Ray Clemance.

For a team that was slipping/declining,they still played beautifully, really sad they didn’t win the league that season. In a matter of 6 months they were barely recognisable under Souness. The defence was crumbling, the signs were there against Everton the in 4-4 draw.

Arsenal conceded 18 goals in this entire season. That was one of the greatest defences seen in the game. Of course the season wasn't over after this game but it really did feel ominous. Lot of Liverpool players were struggling for form at the time and a few big names were out injured. Liverpool would put on a few cracking displays before the end of season (those away wins at Leeds and Derby are memorable) but this was Arsenal's season.

Graham said Lukic is an "excellent goalkeeper" but Seaman "is the best" after signing him - hard to disagree

Arsenal strong that season. Remember spunky being  phenomenal probably his best ever season in his career.

We looked so bright in the first half and completely faded in the second . They just  needed to contain john Barnes and the frustration grew. I remember watching this and feeling like we were going to lose it the longer it went on. Depressing end to a day

Thanks for the upload Dave, remember this game

Anytime this Liverpool team took to the field you always got value for your money, always played the game as it should be,played, wonderful team. Amen.

The departure of Daglish was so strange especially since he  rocked up to Ewood Park literally months later. Do  any Liverpool fans know if he asked for a  temporary leave  of  absence first, or  did he  just  quit? Seems like all  he really needed was a break.

I've been waiting for this match for years 👍🏼.... I dunno what makes me think of it but Chesney Hawkes 'The One and Only' was out around this time?

Ronnie and Steve missing in midfield we just couldn’t plug the gaps I definitely think had Kenny stayed he would’ve got it right and history would’ve been very different .

Although a bad result and was possibly the start of the end of the era - or so how it felt - this is a great video. Love this channel. Although not our finest season; do you, by chance, have the 1991/92 season review?

I remember watching this at school and Merson's goal.

Hysen reminded me so much of lovern error prone lacked focus
