You need to use mindstorms with a distance sensor to keep the train moving at the right speed, no chain needed!

No, for the moving background, I absolutely understand you probably want the depth in the tunnel scenes for example, I say no only because the background is falling apart, which is only taking it down to 9/10 from 10/10 imo— very much impressed with the track loop’s consistency and functionality.

Here is an idea. Make guide rales on top and bottom for the background and use track in the middle to move it. Might still not work but forces will be definitely more spread. It would be ideal if both top and bottom rail had wheels on each segment. Also did you tried to tilt the track slightly to create that sideways force?
