If you’re a big dude with athletic skills it just makes sense to do any other type of sport to make significantly more money

If you're over 6'3 and athletic, why would you want to join a sport where you only get 20k to win as a new fighter? The fact is, UFC pay structure keeps talent uninterested if they can play any other sport professionally.

its almost like all the heavyweights in the past had something to like....enhance their performance or something

You ever watch a 15 minute YouTube video and they just repeat themselves for the duration

the best atheltes of that size are not going to the UFC to get pennies on the dollar.

Until fighter pay is improved heavyweight is destined to be ass most of the truly athletic guys that size who want to seriously pursue pro sports are in other sports that actually pay the athletes

Prime DC would wreck this generation of heavyweights.

Big genuinely athletic lads are realising other sports are a much better option

Easy fix for the HW division: Tag Teams

@JokersVsZombies 7 months ago (edited)

Its crazy HWs from 20 years ago couldve gone on generational runs in the modern HW division.

The only way to make the heavyweight division great again is to let them start doing TRT and other PEDs again lol

Regardless of what happened with Francis Ngannou, I feel the UFC fumbled that. I don't think they appreciated how fast he evolved into Calm Francis and how much they needed it.

It’s the UFC’s fault. They wouldn’t pony up the coin for Rico or any of the other top fighters. They need to get Rico signed and Francis back, then they gotta start combing college campuses for D1 wrestlers, and for Basketball and football players who aren’t likely to get drafted

Roy Nelson also a Black Belt. He’d smoke the modern HW division.

Prime Cain would run circles on these new HW

The UFC not being willing to pay heavyweight superstars like Verhoeven good money is also limiting the heavyweight division.

heavyweights, in general, are not the norm in population. Because the average is lower, more people who train and fight will be closer to the average. But HW is for people who can't make 205 basically, so there naturally is less people who could fight there. Plus, the UFC is doing a bad job at attracting prospects to this division.

A lot of the heavyweights people used to like were juiced to the gills . Now , the problem is money isn’t really being given to the heavyweights like it should be to get them to fight instead of other avenues and eye pokes not taken seriously enough.

@manlymischief7581 7 months ago

The problem is that even top 15 fighters aren't being paid enough to train full-time.

Pay is the only way, big guys who can’t make it in football, basket ball or the other big sports go to boxing, people who can’t make it there go to mma because there’s no money in the sport for big boys to chase ir
