Legend has it these frames will fit 26x2.8 tires front and rear…

Source: I have the same frame with 2.8s on it.

You should use a polishing wheel on a drill and it will get those parts a lot shinier

That frame looks like it would be a good candidate for a carbon belt drive.

I bought forty of these on close out back in the mid nineties. 23 inch and 21 inch frames. Full Suntour XC Comp. Normal retail was $1200. Ran a radio ad saying I was looking for a few tall men. Sold out in a couple of weeks. $398. People drove from all over to buy one. Black with pink splatter. I did sell the same exact model . Bought it on discount as well. But Shimano equipment bikes all ways held their value. So wasn’t as heavily discounted. Sold the store back in 1997. Miss those days.

Very cool…this bike was designed by Richard Cunningham who built Mantis mountain bikes then went on to become editor of Mountain Bike action

Looks great. I’ve never had a bike with an elevated chainstay, it sure would make life easier in certain situations, a bit odd that it hasn’t been done more frequently.

Thx. for the 7speed out of 8speed casett tip. 😃🙌 Always a need for more range.
The tire tread looks a lot like the Holy Roller (also a great all round tire)?
With friksjon shifter allows for a modern long cage shifter, which will solve the range issue. 😊

Another unique, cool, comfortable and nice resto build. 😎🤙

I used to own a Nishiki Alien. It was the aluminium version, with square tubed main triangle in green and silver. I loved that bike. The person I sold it to still has it. I may have to make them an offer they can’t refuse, so I can buy it back 🤔

Nice build! I saw a comment somewhere that for friction shifters on old bikes, one should actually use brake cable housing due to the structure of the cable. Do you know if that’s true or have any thoughts ? Thanks
