There are more than 8 billion people in the world. Nowadays it really feels as they are all traveling exactly the same day as me 🤣

I’m so glad I did most of my travelling in the 80’s and 90’s.

It's so funny when tourists complain about all the tourists.

When I visited Mt. Rushmore in the early 90's, it was pretty spacious and not overcrowded. I do remember the monument being smaller in person, but the surrounding countryside was beautiful, and it was easy to come and go.

We always visit off peak season so this is probably why we had better experiences in many of the places named

Seeing this I congratulate myself on having seen many of these sights many decades ago. My advice: travel out of season.

Everywhere I went, ….Paris, Barcelona, Egypt, Santorini, Venice, Rome, Marrakech, Istanbul…solo…it was fabulous…travelling is not for faint hearted 😊

I always enjoy visiting the Canadian Niagara Falls. It is a beautiful park, and there is a lot to see there.

Couldn't disagree more with this assessment of Venice. As a day trip, it would majorly suck, to be sure. But we spent a week in a hotel right on the grand canal, and the nights in Venice are magical! As to there being "nothing to do", nothing could be further from the truth! Museums, churches, visits to outer islands, just getting lost in the pathways, pick-up soccer games with local kids (not for me, but our son played,) self-made vaporetto tours, stand-up, *reasonably priced*, gondola rides across the grand canal, and just gaping at the architecture and history. Very well worth our time and money!

My number one regret was Disney. Florida or California they just want you to buy stuff while waiting the impossible lines

As someone who has traveled for over 60 years, I can safely say that going to "tourist destinations" is usually the biggest disappointment in my travel history.  Years ago, I stopped going to tourist traps and focus on cities with as few tourists as possible.  Its usually a much nicer trip and a lot less hectic.  I live in a place that is a tourist destination and I hate the environment it can create.

Get rid of the background noise.

Santorini is FABULOUS.  The photos DO capture it well.  A must see place

Most people don’t know much about art. This is a good example of that.

My bag was stolen Ramblas while I was eating, a man approached me and talked to me while I was eating. Meanwhile a companion of his took my small bag . There was nothing there except my dentures. You'll know because my pictures before that showed me smiling widely and after that, just demurely, my mouth shut.

He couldn’t be more wrong about Mount Rushmore. The Black hills are there. Deadwood is close by, Devils tower, Crazy Horse National monument, with its Native American history. Custer National Park. It’s a great place to see.

Poland and the Czech Republic are worth visiting.  I don’t think they’re really advertised.  I was in Warsaw, Krakow, and Prague and really enjoyed it.

The trick to Mt Rushmore is to get there when the park opens.  The sculpture faces east so the rising sun really adds to the experience.  There are way less people and most are quiet and in awe.   After that go to Jewell Cave.

Whenever a place becomes well known it gets overwhelmed by tourists.
