I'm not sure who's braver, Steve who will eat bits of MREs from prior to the 20th century, or Bacons who will eat $2 fish out of a vending machine.

at 13:03 it nice to know that the curry vending machine (the red vending machine) is still up and running, the old man who makes the curry for the vending machines got featured on the channel "Great Big Story", title of the video is "A Homemade Meal . . . From a Vending Machine".

Thank you for always being so kind to the kitties 😸

I got to say, Big ups to the people who maintain all those machines. That cannot be a inexpensive task, and I have no doubt that it's time consuming as hell.

I LOVE the silent first-person format of these videos. I always get really excited by the mystery vending machine videos.

Absolutely fascinating… the largest vending machine park in Japan, in a dirt lot, next to a tire shop, filled with old school vending machines that sell everything from umbrellas to fortunes, fish pancakes to full hot noodle bowls…and how you eat all that, I have no idea! But thanks for feeding the kitty 😸

It's more like a time machine than a vending machine. Like they're bringing us to their prime era, so nostalgic

Edit : I'm just a fan of those kind of old fashion vending machines(and read some book about it) (2023/01/22)
Just in case if anyone wondering , the chazuke , udon and soba are not instant food , but freshly cooked at the spot.(The raw noodle was prepared in bowl , and the machine will cook it with boiling water when customer ordered , than drain the noodle and add soup into the bowl.)

(For chazuke , the rice is surely pre-cooked , but just refrigerated , instead of frozen-dryed.)
(Those machine has to be refilled at least once daily. For freshness.)

It's indeed used to be a genuine dry batteries vending machine back in it's glory days, but now used to sell candy.

I personally won't recommend try this one....since it's just normal "ready food" type of curry pack.
13:14
The normal instant soup , TBH....But the machine is super rare , so could give it a try.
14:19
Microwave foods.
19:14
Indeed toasted on the spot.(The tin foil pack also serves as cooking vessels.)

The way some of the vending machines look old/aged yet work perfectly fine, feels... supernatural in some way. Like the machines aren't maintained by people who come by every day. They just continue to work and replenish their stock somehow, and that's why they're all gathered here.

Did it feel like living in an apocalyptic world where there is no other interaction but with machine...this is thrilling, and interesting!

That place become popular and developed into largest vending machines places, because of a video from the food YouTubers "Ericsurf6", after his video was broadcast on a Japanese local TV show, not long after that a lot of curious visitors visiting that place, and the owner added more and more vending machines... sorry for my bad English

Those retro bottled vending machines took me back to my childhood when i'd walk down to the gas station and get a bottle of pepsi.  You had to pull hard!  Those were the days!  Candy and soda.

That cat looks like it has been hanging around the vending machines for awhile 😆 Smart kitty.

So glad there's a culture that respects vending machines.  Here in the U.S., I don't think many people understand the minor miracles that they are.  You could tell the story of the world from all that's gone into a vending machine.

I am in love with the vintage feel of this place, all the machines look worn and well-used but that's what's charming about them
also surprise kitty appearance! I would not be surprised if they hung around the area to eat leftover food and ask people for treats

When my kids were little i used to take them for their routine health appointments at a military hospital with a room full of vending machines. They loved to go “vending” they would have loved this place and hope someday they get to come to see it in person!

The idea of some bulky, dirty, tough-looking diesel mechanics coming back from this "food dispenser tunnel" with a handful of Hello Kitty - Rainbow Edition ice cream bar, Cotton Candy & Marshmallow flavored Ramune, vampire-shaped potato chips served in a cardboard coffin container and some other animalistic or anime themed flashy food - it just cracks me up! :D

What a cute little cat. I spent many years working on tires & wheels I think I would enjoy working there with all the vending machines.

The popcorn machine was the best! And that udon with the tofu puffs and other extras looked delicious. 😋😋😋

Now I just feel robbed about truck stops and such lol.. candy apples and umbrellas and hot curry o my! 💚
