I'm back in the past... and I'm tackling one of the more unique vehicles of the North African campaign! This is the journey of taking a super cheap base kit and turning it into a more accurate, historical model.
The vehicle: a British CMP (Canadian Military Pattern) Truck that was captured by the Germans (Wehrmacht) in North Africa. They didn't just repaint it—they field-modified it by mounting an early 2cm Flak 30 Gun on the back and adding German recognition markings!
💰 The Cost of Accuracy
This project started with a simple $10 kit I snagged at a local model show. However, to truly recreate the vehicle as seen in the original wartime photo—including all the intricate details, correct markings, and the specific Flak gun variant—I had to go on a serious parts hunt!
Let's check out how it was created in this video!

Glenn Bartolotti, a master modeler, has produced an exceptional "Step-By-Step Finishing Armor" series. Each volume serves as a focused master class, guiding enthusiasts through the painting and weathering processes for particular armor kits or dioramas. The series meticulously details all necessary materials, including paints, powders, and washes, alongside clear explanations of pre-shading and other painting techniques.
