Did you know that the very first word revealed in the Quran was "Iqra" – Read? Islam is a religion of knowledge, yet many of us have lost the habit of reading and studying our deen.
In this practical and inspiring lecture, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan lays out a complete daily schedule for the student of knowledge – and shows how even the busiest Muslim can incorporate learning, prayer, and dhikr into their day.
But that's not all. He also shares a powerful hadith from the Prophet ﷺ about two easy characteristics that, if a Muslim holds onto them, will guarantee entry into Jannah. The deeds are light on the tongue but heavy on the scale – yet very few people do them consistently.
In this video, you will discover:
The importance of reading: Why the first command in the Quran was "Read" and what that means for you today.
The daily schedule of a student of knowledge (from the Salaf):
From Fajr to Duha: Reviewing lessons and seeking knowledge.
From Duha to Asr: Copying texts (the old-school way of preserving books).
From Asr to Maghrib: Returning to lessons and study.
After Maghrib: Praying two rak'ahs with two juz of Quran.
Between Maghrib and Isha: Staying in the masjid – it's like being in prayer.
After Isha: More study, then sleep on your right side with adhkar.
The two easy characteristics that lead to Jannah:
After every prayer: 10 x Subhanallah, 10 x Alhamdulillah, 10 x Allahu Akbar (150 on the tongue, 1,500 on the scale daily).
Before sleeping: 33 x Allahu Akbar, 33 x Alhamdulillah, 34 x Subhanallah (100 on the tongue, 1,000 on the scale).
Total: 2,500 rewards per day – and you barely moved your tongue.
The du'a before sleep: "Allahumma qini 'adhabaka yawma tajma'u 'ibadaka" – O Allah, save me from Your punishment on the Day You gather Your slaves.
Seeking knowledge vs. Qiyam al-Layl: Imam al-Shafi'i and Ibn al-Jawzi's view that seeking knowledge is better than voluntary prayers – but you should still pray something at night. Combine both.
The one book every Muslim should study: The 40 Hadith of Imam al-Nawawi. It covers intention, shyness, taqwa, loving for your brother what you love for yourself, and more. You don't need to be a full-time student – but every Muslim needs daily spiritual nutrition.
Whether you're a student of knowledge, a working professional, a mother, or a beginner – this lecture will give you a practical roadmap to structure your day around worship and learning.
