As a totally straight guy, I don't feel the least bit weird admitting that Ranveer Brar is criminally handsome
🙄

The fun thing is Kolkata was a major hub of Chinese immigrants, it was the Chinese immigrants, who introduced Bengalis to Chinese dishes, but added some Indian spices, so that it becomes preferred by the Indian taste pallet. From Kolkata, Indo-Chinese cuisines spread across India. Even now, some of these Chinese families are living in Kolkata, we also have a Chinese Kali Temple, where the goddess Kali is offered noodles. The history of food and culture is definitely fun and intriguing.

In India, eggs are really cheap. The cheapest ones cost 0.08 USD.

3:01 ranveer have said to chop the vegetables first because our indian moms chops vegetables mid cooking hope this help everyone ❤❤

Haiyaa Uncle Roger, we use Pressure Cooker, not rice cooker. That's basmati, if you cook it in a pressure cooker, it'll turn into babyfood.

Indians : RANVEER BRAR IS OUR PRIDE!!

Brian and Frenchie: Yes but… DO YOU HAVE A CORNER OF YOUR ROOM DEDICATED TO RANVEER??

Guys, the Indo-Chinese cuisine isn't necessarily from bordering areas but a culmination of Chinese people migrating to India decades ago and Tibetan refugees finding refuge in the country in the more recent years.

MSG is not inherently unhealthy, and a lot of the sentiment against MSG comes from stereotypes and bias against East Asian cuisine. I'm sure you know this, Brian, but sharing this for your audience.

Btw, eggs are cheaper in india 😅 thats why he used three

Well, In India, when a mother cooks, she chops the vegetables mid cooking as most of the things they make take enough time and they don't the hassle of first doing chopping, then cooking. They combine them both cuz it saves times and utensils.

Indo Chinese cuisine originated in Indian city of Kolkata, brought over by Chinese Hakka immigrants. The reason why signature noodle dish of Indo Chinese is called Hakka Noodles. That along with manchurian, fried veggie (or chicken) balls tossed in soy and chilli sauce along with aromatics are the most popular dishes.

MSG is no worse for you than plain salt. Don't use too much if you have high blood pressure. Otherwise, it's fine.

If Chef Ranveer is Gordon Ramsey of India, like you said, there is someone like Marco-Pierre White of India too. I would recommend checking out Chef Sanjeev Kapoor. He is the OG in the Indian television cooking scene.

18:11 chef Ranveer is trying to teach the recipe to his audience who are not pro chef to cook two dishes at same time. And making them together will confuse his Indian audience. That’s why he first show friend rise and later the sauce. It’s just common sense which only an actual chef can understand.

In India , eggs cost 12 to 15 cents maximum per one egg. So it wasn't that expensive dish

@kunalgautam9042 10 months ago

Just FYI, you can buy a dozen eggs for 80 cents in India, so it's not luxary at all

There is a very good reason why Chef Ranveer is emphasizing the importance of 'mise en place' here. We usually don't prepare everything beforehand because while cooking Indian cuisine we would have to wait for certain things to cook and home cooks use that time to cut and do other preparation. Basically reducing downtime while multi-tasking and thus saving cooking time overall. Of course, that is not ideal for cooking of Chinese cuisine and thus 'mise en place' remains important.

Unfortunately Uncle Roger seems to not know how a typical Indian household functions and he is trying to roast based on his own experience.

Every Indian sauce is NOT a CURRY. Chef Frenchy and Brian you should try Dhamaka in NYC or Ranveer Brar's friend/ Co-Judge on MasterChef Vikas Khana has a restaurant in NYC, Junoon

@RiverSmalliesOn 1 year ago (edited)

You want to look for Hakka restaurants, at least that's what the fusion is called up here in Canada. Brampton, Ontario has some of the best Indian, Chinese, and oddly enough Jamaican restaurants you can find.
