Homeschooling your children is the best thing you can do in my humble opinion. I was really impressed with the set up for learning in your previous home. I am also a big fan of how immaculate your home is. Maranatha.

A good way to get rid of snow off of your roof is take a leaf blower up there and do it works really good. As long as it didn’t start melting and then freezes over the top it’s better if it’s a bit more fresh and powdery, but it blows off really fast instead of using a shovel.

You folks did very well surviving the brutal winter and adapting.My suggestions would be to build your home in sections and cut firewood a bit every chance you get as you clear land and build up a winter supply heat is number 1.I grew up as a child living off grid.I really enjoy your videos and your abilities stay safe!

I am following your journey from Portugal. You are doing the right thing! Your children love it! That is very important! The hardest thing would be if they were unhappy.
We left our home country with a camper van, a car, a trailer and a friend's phone number. We had never been here before. I was 53 years old at the time. Friends told us that we wouldn't last. They gave us a year and then we would come back. Now we've been here for 7 years. We bought our land 3 years later, built a hut and started growing our own food, last year we bought chickens. We had other challenges here, like a very difficult drought that lasted several years and a big fire in 2023. That was tough. We lost a newly built workshop, a car and a solar system. But we have not regretted leaving our hometown. We live in a very rural area. We knew there would be challenges, but all in all we are very glad we left Central Europe.

Nice to see you kids making plans for the next projects cause time is always a factor when you have so much to accomplish. If you can speed things up like loads of gravel like you mentioned to make a lane and lot area for you new build will send you on your way to bigger and better things spending a month or more on making a road and in the end still require loads of gravel and to think of all that time you could have been building, this money is well spent considering your overall gains. Great video guys. It sounds like your kids couldn't have a better upbringing. My wife and I have been through a similar situation here in central Alberta and it only gets better going forward. Living debt free is a great feeling, the challenges of learning new skills, learning about which good quality materials to use and determining what is important and what is not is a great experience to go through. Water supply, snow clearing and heating are absolute priorities. The rest will sort itself out. Wishing you folks all the best going forward!
