As someone who took wayyy too long to realize I was queer, I fully love Jayce's journey and how it ultimately brought him and Viktor together in such a transcendent way.

"It brings me comfort to know that Jayce and Viktor are forever holding each other in the infinite embrace of the Arcane." - Amanda Overton

Honestly, what Linke said about Viktor's asexuality makes me feel a bit tired and annoyed, for two reasons:
First, because it seems like he thinks asexual people can't have romantic feelings or can't be gay, which is NOT TRUE.
And second, because it reinforces this narrative that has been repeated over and over again, that disabled and/or neurodivergent people are always asexual 🙄

i am but a simple man: i see Jayvik, i click. i see pocket leaves, i click.

Being asexual doesn’t negate the possibility of being homoromantic or some other attraction! Ace doesn’t also have to mean aro 😢.

Jayvik is such an affirming ship for me as a queerplatonic (possibly aro) ace person. I kept wanting to be one or both of them in their relationship. Their devotion to each other is clear and unambiguous, even to the creator. There are other small things about their relationship that pertain to them as characters that mesh really well, like how they each shore up their insecurities by being themselves (at least early on). It also shows the fraying of these sorts of relationships and how they can be just as painful, despite a relationship like this not having a label. Jayvik is so valid, therefore I am valid.

I think Jace is a passive partner in that he doesn't make the first move. Mel initiated their kiss and Jace was clearly surprised by it but reciprocated cuz he was attracted to her. I think he very much is attracted to Victor but he would never make the first move and Victor was too preoccupied with saving himself to consider any romances, even with Sky.

I feel like we also gotta mention the fact JayVik predates Arcane, like its been a ship for more than a decade.
No matter what happened in the story, people were gonna ship them, cause they already were doing that before it was written. Didn't help that half the staff shipped them but regardless

jayvik nation…for the final time…how are we feeling?

17:50 "in Christian lore" is so funny to me for some reason

Jayvik feels real, because their major actions don't make sense, if you read them without applying a deep affection for each other into equation

Also, while talking about "what writers of Arcane said about Jayce and Viktor", Christian Linke may be wildly against any male gay romantic relationship in his sigh, BUT another co-writer/co-producer (she has many positions, I don't remember which one she did for Arcane) Amanda Overton said, and I quote,: "It brings me comfort to know Jayce and Viktor are forever holding each other in the infinite embrace of the Arcane 😊" WITH THAT DAMN EMOTICON AT THE END. We all know that Riot as a company is openly homophobic towards gay men and it's no surprise to me that this tone is also set for an Arcane production, so yeah, sure, no male writer from Riot will come up with "hey, uhh they actually are together" but so, so, sooooooo many of production staff, animation staff (let's be honest, a whole Fortniche was shipping Jayvik from the very beggining) AND key voice actors are a Jayvik shippers. Kevin Alejandro (Jayce's va) is openly supporting them since 2021, no wonder that they didn't make any promotional work with him. Mel's va, Toks Olagundoye is also very supportive, btw this woman is just as amazing as Mel herself. So, as much as I'm very happy for CaitVi being an openly lesbian and winning couple, the Jayce and Viktor's relationship is anything but casual, and I fear that they as characters have outgrown their creators. Besides, it would be iconic for Arcane to have gay, lesbian and straight couple, one for each representation, it would be truly a historic move.

Thank you YouTube, they know I’ve been possessed by jayvik and they’ve  been feeding me in my cage.

i absolutely read Jayce and Viktor as having a homosexual subtext in season 1, and then SO much more in season 2.
i fully believed at least Viktor was meant to be in love with Jayce when he said his line about “affection” keeping them together. then Jayce broke his leg and started seeing visions of Mel and Viktor replacing each other, and i took that as intentional confirmation that Jayce was in love with Viktor too. the fact that they DIDN’T kiss in their final moments kind of surprised me, but i do think it’s somehow even more romantic that they didn’t.
looking back on season 1, the way they (especially Jayce) look at each other in episode 3 when they’re floating in the air is so full of emotion and meaning. right then and there is where they decided that they wanted to spend every day for the rest of their lives together, just chasing the feeling they had in that moment.

UGH, BE STILL MY JAYVIK HEART!

all this to say, i’ve never been big on shipping culture, but there are a select few i’ll indulge myself in. JayVik has become top of the list, save for one pairing i’ve adored since i was a kid.

BONUS
fun/funny JayVik headcanons i like:
- Jayce is bi
- Viktor is gay
- Jayce fell first, Viktor fell harder
- Jayce fell in love when he saw the joy on Viktor’s face while they were floating around Heimerdigner’s office together
- Viktor fell in love over time after officially becoming partners
- Viktor has the (way) higher body count
- Jayce is oblivious, and Viktor is insecure, so they never pursue anything
- Viktor hates small talk and casual physical contact, except with Jayce
- Jayce can always tell when Viktor’s leg is bothering him
- Viktor doesn’t talk about his personal life, except with Jayce (he’s still guarded tho)
- Jayce wants to help Viktor when he’s in pain out of love, but Viktor always convinces himself it’s out of pity
- they both love it when other people acknowledge them as each other’s “partner”
- Jayce does most of the schmoozing with rich donors, and always corrects them when they treat Jayce like he did everything solo (he actually gets rly upset but doesn’t want to jeopardize any relationships)
- Jayce was 100% fighting off images of Viktor when he and Mel slept together
- Mel is annoyed at how much Jayce talks about Viktor with her, but he’s literally dying so she doesn’t complain
- they know each other’s eye color EXACTLY
- definition of golden retriever x black cat
- Mel realizes Jayce is in love with Viktor at the beginning of season 2, and she fully accepts it without a bit of ill will
- Viktor could somewhat hear what Jayce was saying while comatose, but he’s WAY too disoriented to process any of it
- Viktor could feel Jayce, Heim, and Ekko messing with the anomaly, and 100% sent Salo to be there the moment Jayce came back
- when Viktor read Jayce’s mind, he finally found out Jayce loved him back
^side note: i need someone to recreate that scene of Eve watching her security logs of Wall-E taking care of her while she was shut down but with JayVik

sorry for the long ass comment😅
i just love these two SO. MUCH.

15:50 it is a noteworthy point that, it seems like the only person who could get Jayce, to fight against Viktor, was ultimately revealed to be Viktor himself. It would have been one thing for Jayce to see a possible, apocalyptic future, get the impression Viktor was the cause, and go back to try and stop him.....but I don't think Jayce would have gone as far as he did (IE just point blank murder folks and Viktor) if it wasn't older Viktor himself asking him to do so.

If they wanted Viktor and Jayce to be bros or homies, by the FUCK did they frame them as being in a love triangle? Why did they constantly visually parallel Viktor and Mel, and why the fuck did they make them soulmates? That’s not bro behavior, I am so sorry, they ARE in love, and NOTHING will change that fact.

and I am fully in support of non-romantic male friendships. Thorfinn and Einar for example, love them, and thru genuinely feel like brothers. Jayvik tho? Completely different ballgame.

When Viktor came out of the Hexcore cocoon, I looked at my bf and said, "They're in love, right? Like. Come on."

for everyone in the comments, shipping is an interpretation of a work, and its not more correct or wrong despite the author's stated intentions. We're not talking about canon here, this is headcanon, a personal interpretation that has no bearing in your own experience with the show. So just let ppl ship who they want, if you dont ship it it doesnt mean you have any moral failing, it can be a matter of preference. Art is like that, its subjective. I like to ship these two cuz it im gay, we can all disagree with opinions but it doesnt matter if its objectively correct cuz these are fictional characters. Let's just let ppl have fun.

"jayvik has pretty decent legs to stand on" took me out considering they both have bad legs...
sorry
