I found 100 forgotten girl names in a baby name book originally published in 1935, and some of these rare vintage names genuinely deserve a comeback.

In this video, I’m exploring 100 unusual girl names currently ranked outside the US Top 1000 and sorting them into three categories: Revive It, I See the Vision, and Leave It in the Book.

Whether you’re searching for rare baby girl names, vintage names outside the Top 1000, unique names with history, forgotten names ready for a revival or simply love reacting to unusual baby names, there are plenty of fascinating discoveries in this list.

Let me now in the comments:

Which name would you revive?
Which one makes you say, “I see the vision”?
Which name should remain safely inside the book?

Subscribe for more vintage baby names, rare and unusual names, baby-name trends, forgotten name discoveries and thoughtfully curated name lists every week.

I have an ancestor from the mid to late 1800's named Temperance. She was called Tempie. I love both!

It is interesting to see names experiencing revivals. When I was a kid in the 1970s, Emma and Hannah were old granny names.

I like Blythe. My grandmother had a friend named Althea, born in the late 1890s. I met a sweet little Solace, once.

The fact that a parent loves a name, may not translate to their child once they hit school age. Especially if it isn't a family name. It is so lovely to point out the relative who we name has been given and their history in the family. My children are all adults now. Their first names are unique in the family, but each one has a middle name of someone special.

In the 1940s, my mother worked with a woman named Frances who was called Frankie. She married a man whose surname was Tankersley, and his friends called him Tank. So after the marriage, the wife was known as Frankie Tank!

Althea is gorgeous! I love Blythe, Cecily, Coralie, Eudora and Isadora! Daffodil and Primrose are pretty. I like Adamina.

I genuinely find it interesting that you’re disappointed if these names aren’t revived then you want the more popular. For me personally, nothing ruins a baby named faster than other people having it!

A lot of them would really be lovely middle names.

I knew an older black woman a while back whose first name was Diantha. I thought it was such a beautiful name!

Cecilia is my name. I get so many compliments on it. Thankfully I don’t get as many “Oh Cecilia, you’re breaking my heart” references anymore as we are getting further from the 1970’s. 😂
