I remember growing up, it seemed like every WW II veteran always carried  a wool blanket, old rubber rain poncho, and a old .30 ammo can for tools and a GI flashlight in the trunk of their cars.

When I got out of the Navy in 1976 I took my wool blanket with me and used it for a tablecloth playing poker. I also used it for camping it lasted me for 25 years 😂

I have a very old wool military  blanket.. it went on many camping trips with me.. and it was with me when I was homeless as well..

A trick from Civil War soldier was to sew a sheet of cotton to one side of the blanket. This cotton side faced the sleeping soldier, while the wool side remained to the exterior. This allowed for a little pocket of warm air to form and increase insulation. The wool exterior allowed the weather resistance of the wool to still be utilized.

25 years ago I switched out from synthetic materials to all wool for my outdoor clothing!
Best decision I ever made

I have a Hudson Bay Wool Blanket.
Very expensive and worth every penny.
My wife and I will never be without it.

My family had three "points" blankets. From England, all wool. They all hate wool, I inherited all three. Thank you God!! Thanks and peace.

I have two Pendleton wool blankets from the 60’s they’ve been well used and still beautiful.

I bought a King size 100% Merino blanket from Bushcraft Spain. It was expensive....but I never regret that buy! Every weekend, all year round, I sleep in a shelter at our summerhouse, from summer warmth to bitter vinter cold, this blanket is just so damn comfy! In the winter, I usually have a thin open summer sleepingbag on top, to shield for wind and give a little ekstra protection, but the blanket is the one keeping me toasty.

I initially was going to scroll past your post, as I am curious about the various wool blankets. Then I saw it was Coalcracker Bushcraft, and so I viewed it.
Thank you Sir, for being a reliable source of practical information.
Best to you.

I own 2 of your blankets, only because my wife always used mine that’s why I bought the second one.

I have two old but excellent US ARMY medical wool blankets that I still use, one from 1943, the other 1944, $5 each surplus from Florida! Thanks for the heads up on your blankets being available again. I need some more. 😊

Toll ich danke dir 😊ich habe noch aus meinem Militärdienst in den 90ern meine Decke behalten 😊 Dank dir kenne ich nun die Vorteile einer Wolldecke 😊 viele Grüße aus Deutschland ❤😊

Found really nice 100 % wool blankets on Amazon for under 50 bucks. One was huge for me and another smaller for the wife. Hers was actually really pretty soft. The bigger one was still comfy and not really scratchy.

I'm glad you saying how good wool is..Instead of saying how great the mylar em blankets are...I Love my Wool Blanket and Ground Cloth..

My wife and I watched this in bed last night with a Coal Cracker wool blanket on top.

She has thyroid problems and absolutely LOVES your wool blanket...

You have achieved hero status with her.

I have two 100% alpaca wool blankets and love them!  Heavy, warm, but incredibly soft!

I have a military issue wool blanket. Same as I used in the Marine Corps. Love it. I use it when out with my Boy Scouts. Now, some of them have started using them in nicer weather or on hiking trips and using them with a bedroll. It's much smaller than a sleeping bag. Don't dry them in a dryer, or you will end up with a bath mat. Love the channel. So do my Scouts. Keep up the good work. Planning a trip to Pennsylvania this year. Hope to run into you.

Some of the very best wool blankets I have ever found are at thrift stores. I have one that is on my recliner right now that when it gets really cold, I mean -10 and colder, I cover up with that at night and you never notice any of it after that. I remember going on a fishing trip a couple of years back, and I was sleeping in the back of my pickup, and one night it got down to about 40 degrees and I had a pair of old surplus army wool blankets. I put them both over me on my air mattress and slept great the whole night through.

Indeed I love me some wool. I've got an old 6 point Hudson Bay blanket that I have had for 40 years Still going strong.
