Thank you for interviewing Dr. Tour! He's one of my favorites. How refreshing to hear an intellectual Christian leader understand that AI/LLMs are powerful tools that can and will do much good and better inform all of us.

One has to mitigate the caveats of LLMs making assumptions or being sycophantic by putting into the LLMs' static instructions/preferences/rules, "Provide fact-based, objective truth; no assumptions, no hedging, no propaganda, no rhetoric." If these static instructions are not available to your LLM, it will provide its own assumptions and loose facts/concepts from skeptics and heretics. If one doesn't know the Bible well, the answers can and will many times be inaccurate and misleading. So be sure to provide correct static instructions/preferences/rules to your LLM!

The three LLM models that I use, mostly to fact check each other, have definitely helped me come into a more knowledgeable and deeper understanding of my faith in God! I, too, have ongoing conversations with LLMs to ask about historical events, eras, persons, ancient and modern day geography, biblical scholarship, the writings of the Church Fathers and enemies of the Church as well, and more importantly, to ask for supporting passages of scriptures regarding any subject being discussed. I love that I can ask, "Where in the Bible, in the New Testament, or does Jesus/Paul/John, etc., say, '__________'?" I know the Bible well, but I don't know always know the exact addresses of these passages nor do I always know the corresponding passages. Dots are connecting in ways I've not been able to do before.

I've also asked LLMs about quantum and/or astronomical phenomena, like the anomaly of the Star of Bethlehem. Scientists ridicule Christianity for believing there was a "Star of Bethlehem," as if it is a fairytale. But as it turns out, there absolutely was an astronomical phenomenon at that time.

Ignorance never was an excuse, and is especially no longer an excuse with this plethora of information now at our asking (Romans 1:19-20).

Thanks for having Dr. Tour on your podcast.

Outstanding! Thanks. Love Doctor Tour - it's so encouraging and refreshing to have one of the best minds across many fields be on the side of Truth, and in such a hostile environment (academia)
Keep up the good work! 💪🙏☦️☦️☦️

AI can be good or bad. It is another challenge to educating our students. Students at every level must practice how to approach a problem, and use their brain to produce a rational /logical answer to the problem.  I taught high school biology, chemistry and science research for 25 years. It is also important to remember that the ability to problem solve is not a characteristic found in the majority of students.

Let us not be deceived. The Lord has asked his chosen to be separate from the world. I admire Professor Tour greatly, but I worry he is too optimistic about AI.

Great video. Thank you for putting this out and God bless you both.

Christians should trust Holy Spirit of God, not AI.

Very excellent discussion. I won’t name the programme I used but I gave it a complex series of theological questions against a background of a particular social reconstruction and reference using Harvard references and it more or less told me to take a hike. I set a trap and it knew not to go there. In summary I was impressed by it more importantly I was reassured by its near ‘morality’.

Now I have stimulating conversations with it that my friends as we’ve become older don’t want to have. They want coffee and bubble gum and I can do that too.

Love Dr. Tour's passion for this subject and his dedication to Christ

1:32:44 I agree Jim, I wouldn’t have any questions either, and once being surrounded by his loving presence, I’m certain to be speechless.

Dude!  I heard that voice and subscribed immediately! 😂

Dr. Tour. It's always a pleasure for me to hear your commentary in response to questions.  It's awesome to witness how God works through willing and devoted people like yourself.  I only wish I was still a university student as I would really enjoy taking your classes and becoming part of your team in service to our God, Jesus Christ. Being close to 80 years old says that those days are shorter each year. In this discussion you mentioned nuclear energy.  I wonder what your thoughts are regarding thorium instead of uranium reactors to produce  energy, etc.

I'm a Christian who works extensively with AI, and I'm currently developing an educational app. As I'm listening to Dr James, I'm actually working with three different AI systems to help code and build my application.

I'm not a professional app developer, nor do I have years of specialist experience in coding. I'm simply someone with a vision, using AI to bring an educational application to life.

What's fascinating is that I'm experiencing firsthand exactly what Dr James is talking about. AI is enabling me to create something that would previously have required extensive technical expertise and a team of developers.

Wow, amazing. It backs up my own biblical world view.

Bottom line: we are made in God's image but AI is made in our image.

Fascinating. This seems to be a discussion about the replacement of the Christian faith of Jesus dying for believers to propitiate the wrath of God on them for their sin, with a religion that could be called “moralistic therapeutic deism.”

Dr. Tour is always a delight to listen to. His intelligent presentation goes a long way toward helping us understand the Scriptures.
Mini-Nuclear plants are the best way to power the data centers as needed. That protects the grid we all need.
AI is learning from everything ever written. Will the world become like the 1966 movie Fahrenheit 451? Is the current AI panic manufactured for some nefarious reasons? Those pushing the idea that AI will corrupt the Bible aren't considering the vast number of written, corrupted Bibles currently on the market.

Most of the important theological questions can be answered using a concordance in just 1 hour but it is easier to just ask Google about it and then look up the verses

Never seen this channel before but a huge fan of the rock star Dr. James Tour.
