But behind those alluring promises, there may be a trap from which, once stepped, people almost never return. Today's story was sent to Le Huy An by Tai, a long-time resident of the border region. According to his account, a camp disguised as a garment factory held many people captive, confiscating their documents and phones, forcing them to work, and beating those who didn't meet quotas. Among those taken to the camp was a young woman who was promised a job as a hotel receptionist because she knew English. But upon arrival, she was pushed into a row of computers and forced to send text messages to scam people out of money. Poor health, frequent coughing, and failure to meet targets led to constant beatings. One morning, the girl was found dead on her bed in her room. Horrifyingly, even after her body was removed, no one dared to sleep on that bed.
