Crime reporter Peter R. de Vries was a guest on the AT5 program "Niets Nieuws" (Nothing New) in 1997. He spoke with interviewer Theo van Gogh, who was ultimately murdered in 2004 in an attack on Linnaeusstraat.
In this now-unique conversation, De Vries and Van Gogh discuss, among other things, the risks inherent in the work of a crime reporter. "What's the limit, Peter? When do you stop?" Van Gogh asks, to which De Vries replies: "There's no limit. I think I'll always keep going."
De Vries: "If you want to survive in this profession, I've been doing it for twenty years this year. That's only possible if you're straight-talking. The moment you do or don't do things that are wrong, you'll eventually be held accountable. Everyone gets their turn."
