The only guitarist to do justice to Jimi's songs RIP SRV❤

“The worst thing for me was that Stevie Ray had been sober for three years and was at his peak. When he played that night, he had all of us standing there with our jaws dropped. I mean, Robert Cray and Jimmie Vaughan and Buddy Guy were just watching in awe. There was no one better than him on this planet. Really unbelievable.”  - Eric Clapton
I was at Alpine Valley on August 26th, 1990. Cried like a baby on August 27th. I still cry when I think about how much we missed by not having 30+ more years of his music.

Rock n Roll was created from the Blues. Stevie Ray was majorly a Blues player. BB King said that he was the whitest black man he ever met. Albert King took him under his wing and looked after him like a son.

Stevie was an open channel. The music just flowed through him. That is why he is the GOAT.

Stevie called his style Texas Blues

Please do "Life Without You" from the Capitol Theatre from 1984. It will blow your mind. Love the fact that you have so much respect for the "GOAT."

There are no words to describe his play, but the tears say it all.....RIP Stevie, The 🐐

SRV is playing this approximately 15 years after Jimi recorded the original. This is at El Mocambo the same night as Texas Flood. The whole show is magical.

SRV was like an extension of his guitar or the guitar was an extension of SRV?? I'd say one in the same. A real legend. RIP SRV.

As a guitar player , when I heard him for the first time decades ago... I knew he was some kind of space alien.. None of that shit is normal, bro.

He was creating different sounds by using the Amp. Feedback.   Stevie paid to have Jimmy Hendrix entire catalog remastered and all rights and profit to Jimmy's family. Stevie was a beautiful humble talented soul and treated all with respect.R.I.P❤

Rock IS the blues, up tempo with a back beat.

This man honors Hendricks and may be the only one that could.

I was at the show -  El Mocambo club in Toronto, Ontario on July 20, 1983. His first show in Canada.

SRV ...watch you are feeling is honestly his soul. Everything he is comes out through his guitar.  That's why you are touched by his music on such a deep level. Stevie told one of his friends early in his music career that you first have to play with all your heart and soul. Well I still feel that today 40 years later. That's what makes his music touch us even today. All I can say is thank you SRV for leaving us your gift.

There's people who had speed and accuracy like Eddie Van Halen
There are others who could play one note and make you cry like BB King
There are players who can get dirty and bluesy, others who rock hard with intensity

SRV is special because he did all of those as well as anyone

Notice how he has his eyes closed throughout most of the song.  He IS the guitar, no need to look. Its just feeling and flowing!

Stevie Ray Vaughn had a huge  musical vocabulary, complex and mature

Stevie is the best of the rest!      RIP SRV

called Texas Blues..for real
