Pgh winters suck!!!!!! I moved to kentucky back in 1981. I still have to go back and visit family in the heart of the "Burgh". I could NEVER move back there!

Most recently NYC and CT, but before that Baltimore, Bay Area, Boston, Buffalo, ME, Nashua, Rochacha... Pittsburgh is the only place I'd live if we were staying in the US.

Used to ahve to pick up Son across teh city at rush hour; ONLY rush hours are bad traffic. NYC and Baltimore are sooooo much worse.

For everything it lacks, Pittsburgh does have personality. I think it has on average some of the oldest housing stock in the country. Not that old is always gold, though. Everyone knows that classic "Pittsburgh house," you know, the clapboard rectangles covered in Inselbrick siding and vinyl awnings. Not even the faintest hint of any decorative element. H.L Mencken went on, and on, and on about the houses in Pittsburgh in his famous 1926 essay "The Libido for the Ugly." Recommended reading for anyone with an interest in the city, though be warned Mencken gives Pittsburgh no quarter. He hated the city with such an abiding passion that he was even quoted as saying "the existence of Pittsburgh is proof that the United States is not a civilized country." Anyway, thanks for the video!

They don't say but that bus fell in a old boat tunnel. They hit it when building the U.S. Steel building in 1967.

I visited twice, and absolutely love it there ,but, I noticed there limited on corner stores and grocery stores, I felt like i did not see those two things much

I'm sick of all the bike lanes in the East End!!!!!!

Lifelong resident, I’m gonna need you to post daily “Pittsburgh bad” content until I buy a house lol.

Just kidding I’m very happy to see my cities growing social media presence both showing our good and well our roads.

Its been 15 years since I've bern back.  I considered going back for the draft but I'm the only one left from my family and my closest classmates are  gone too!  My only connection to Pittsburgh is through the Pirates and Steelers. I left 1968 when I joined the USAF, and later that year the Penguins started.  So that's my current connection to the 'Burgh!

I really like it here in Pittsburgh!  Great video and the self combusting gps on the dash really hits the mark 🤣. Every place has their way of generating  and utilizing funds.  Pros and cons exist everywhere.  Overall Pittsburgh is a cool little city with beautiful geography and architecture.  Good restaurants and art scene too.  There are many great places in the entire metro region.

One of the biggest problems, and I'm a former lifelong resident of the city who lives in WV now but still works in the city every day, people are too nice and it causes terrible traffic problems. I've driven a truck / trailer in Manhattan for construction projects, and I've got to say the traffic by volume is worse...but the people know how to drive it. They aren't going to wave you over if you need to change lanes. You just do it. If you stop on a ramp that yields, you're liable to be shot. It's chaos, but it's organized chaos where everyone (mostly) knows the rules. In Pittsburgh, you'll have someone that completely screws up a zipper merge and lets 3 / 4 people go ahead of them. Then the frustration builds for everyone behind this person, and they feel like they shouldn't let someone in since now they've had to wait longer. It eventually leads to people nearly locking bumpers and refusing to let anyone make a move. All because someone decided to be overly-generous. I've never seen such problems with tunnels anywhere else in the country. For some reason people in Pittsburgh are incapable of maintaining speed through a tunnel.

BRT (291 million dollar Bus Rapid Transit) will get you to oakland / college area much faster when it’s done. First part is done. Wish it was light rail though :( but two stations are right by two light rail stations so easy access to them. The T goes to the North shore too, bur yea if it wasn’t for the politics in the 60s we would of had a full blown system known then as sky bus. Ah well :( getting extra Amtrack times as well!

For EV owners, many spots in Pittsburgh for free type 2 EV charging. In 2025, I got over 6,000 free miles and in 2024 I got 7640 free charging.

Amazing

He is spot on and i still love Pittsburgh, Art galleries, 3 Professional sports teams, a robust downtown and really nice suburbs mostly....Not to mention world class Healthcare and Universities.  I moved here for work and ill probably retire here paid peanuts for my house compared to So. Cal.

Very honest.

Why doesn't road construction communicate with Google Maps to reroute drivers? Dallas and Nashville do and I was shocked when I moved to Pittsburgh and my gps was taking me through closed roads.

Taxes on gas are insane also. Ohio is about an hour away from Pittsburgh, and gas is 1 dollar a gallon less and property price much better, property tax price far cheaper and no emissions/inspection on vehicles among many other reasons I left my hometown of Pittsburgh. It is nice buying the non inspection cars that are perfectly running from PA for a small fraction of their cost though 😅. They're good in Ohio for another 10 years (more money saving)

Hello, thank you for this video, it was very helpful. I’m planning a move with my husband in June 2026 & he's gonna be working at the university, and I was hoping you could briefly highlight which areas are considered both safe and affordable, particularly for apartment living rather than independent housing.
If possible, I’d really appreciate any general guidance or suggestions you can share here, as I’m currently looking for freely available information rather than paid services. Thank you in advance.

I love my hometown!❤

The confusing Pittsburgh traffic patterns aren’t there because the city was built before everyone owned their own vehicles, it’s because it was built around 3 rivers.

Dude pittsburgh needs to pick a struggle. The city isn’t built for a car, but they built parking lots to force the system when they could’ve invested heavily in public transit.
