i have never clicked a video so fast there’s not enough people making videos about this show and i’m so excited to see you talk about it!!!! i love inside no. 9, i love your content, absolute dream come true

I see that you, like so many others, did not get the point of 3 x 3.

The story is told entirely in subtext.

Margaret is introduced as a clinical trial manager.

Later on she says something along the lines of the girls she works with like TikTok. We assume that she means her associates.

I think she means actual girls that they are running experiments on, of which Catherine is one.

I think the experiments must be something to do with telepathy, due to what happens in the episode.

Catherine answers a question correctly, before Lee has finished asking it.

She says she knows what “Mum thinks” about not saving the “Dad”.

(None of these people are actually related.)

Margaret says something strange when she has a different answer to Catherine, at the end. She says, “You knew that, did you?”

This really only makes sense if Catherine is passing information telepathically to Margaret.

Catherine even messes with the obvious throuple, by stopping them from remembering Eddie Murphy's’ name.

Lee makes a comment about Catherine not physically going to Uni, which makes her sad. She would like to, but can’t leave the lab.

She has never “really been anywhere”, because she is always in the lab, being studied.

Interestingly she is planning to study neurobiology. Which is all about how the brain works.

Margaret plays “quizzes, and games” in the lab with the girls, and then they spend the majority of their time listening to Radio 4, and watching TikTok. Absorbing as much general knowledge as they can, and practicing answering questions, and talking with their minds.

It is interesting that Margaret already knew that the right answer was the Volga when she could not hear Lee ask Catherine the question. That’s because Cathy has already sent the answer to her brain.

Catherine has to play on because she has to “go on what Mum says”.

A game is being played with Catherine in front of our eyes. She looks sad when Margaret says she will put a basement in her house. I think Margaret is planning to install Catherine there, to perform even longer days of tests on her. She does say that Catherine will study, and practice in the basement. Practice telepathy, I think.

This is why Catherine mucks up the last question. This makes sure that Margaret doesn’t get a windfall.

There is still enough money for Catherine to run away to New Zealand, which she talked about doing. You can’t get much farther away from the UK than by going to New Zealand.

Far enough away not to be easily tracked down by the lab clinicians.

Catherine clearly does not know who Charli D’Melio is. Yet she still came up with that unusual answer. I think Lee’s cards have the right answer somewhere on them, so she can see it.

Catherine knows the final answer she gives Margaret is incorrect. She made it one last “FurQ” to Margaret. You can see the glint in her eye when Margaret says it.

Fur Q is not a real rapper. Which makes it even funnier for Catherine.

After Catherine says she will buy a one way ticket to NZ Margaret says, “Over my dead body.”

She is clearly angry, Catherine forces her back into the booth, and blows her brain up. So yes, Catherine will be travelling to NZ, and Margaret does in fact now have a dead body.

Then Catherine gives a shy smile at the fact that her captor is now dead.

Margaret doesn’t care about winning any money. She is only here for “the experience” ie. To see if Catherine can read, and influence minds.

That makes this episode eminently rewatchable.

It is much more clever than hurr durr is pretend game show with head exploding at end yuk yuk.

The 'creepy artifact' is actually in every episode, very meta episode

i haven’t had the stomach to watch all of inside number nine yet, but my parents kept up with it for the most part so i got bits and bobs of episodes in the background - but the funniest thing is, with the live episode, as soon as the ‘technical difficulties’ happened, my dad just switched it off because he thought it had actually gone wrong and never finished the episode :,) … he only realised when he watched the retrospective program they made when the show was ending 🤦

Whoah - i might just watch your recommended episodes! Honestly, I don’t mind the spoilers because I like knowing what to expect with this kind of show

Some great choices, but for me, 12 days of Christine is the best of the best, the one episode to have me in floods of tears. So many insights, thank you. 😊

Never heard of this show. I'll have to check it out!

Wait, I though Cold Comfort Shearsmith as retaliation called Cat Lady's son and told him about Pemberton.

Zanzibar is more of a play, than a poem. Like Shakespeare’s plays, written in iambic pentametre.

So happy you made this 😍 I miss the show so much so this was a treat

Wait this is like my favourite show. I don’t see many people talking about it thanks so much. Some of my favourites are Mulberry Close, Sardines and The riddle of the Sphinx. I think that my overall favourite is Once Removed, so many layers and even better on rewatch.

Omg. I love you. This show is so underrated, I am glad that you discussed it ❤

This is amusing to me, I would've put How Do You Plead at Excellent but I could not STAND Last Night of the Proms, will definately give it a second look now!

I never even heard of Inside #9. It sounds like an interesting show

12 Days of Christine is not each Christmas Day.

It is each month of the year- hence 12 days.

Each new event happens thirteen months after the last one. Sort of.

The months are distributed through her life, with some weird crossovers every now, and then. Like with the sparkler.

A Quiet Night In is my husband’s favourite episode.

I like the Riddle of the Sphinx the best.

My favourites are the darker stories, Once Removed, Wise Owl & Lip Service, which had the greatest twist of them all. I had to rewatch Lip Service again as soon as it finished to fully appreciate the ending. My least favourites is Empty Orchestra & Last Night of the Proms.

I watched every episode religiously even saw them perform a few of them live on stage and the other month went to a inside no 9 themed pub night lol

My favourite show of all time

This was a great list. It’s such a varied show I’m sure everyone who has watched it would have totally different lists. I agreed with a lot of your rankings but it was good to hear your reasons for the ones I didn’t. Hearing about all the episodes again I also realised even though there’s some episodes I didn’t care for that much I don’t think they made a single one I’d say was outright bad they must be two of the best to writers the UK has ever produced
