That was my first gun when I was 10. Saved up allowance and lawn mowing money for it.

Only 54,000 were made exclusively for Kmart.

I have owned two Nylon 10C rifles that are the same design as the 77.  I also own four Remington 581 rifles that use the same magazines.  I have experienced the same issue with several of my 10 round magazines.  There is a little metal clip at the rear of the magazine that I depress slightly and results in the rounds being held securely.  I initially became so disillusioned with these magazines that I literally gave away both of my 10C’s.  Never had this problem with the five round magazines or two stainless steel custom magazines I purchased from a gentleman in Marysville, TN, I believe his name is John Reid.  Not saying it will work on all magazines, but closing that clip a little corrected the problem in my ten round magazines.  Even some of the brand new magazines had the problem of just squirting rounds out.  Good magazines are the key to this otherwise fine little rifle.

AKA KMart licensed model. Retailed 65-70$
I have one NIB 😍 The Kmart Apache 77 is almost as scarce as Seneca green/brown… like that?

This was at the tail end of the Remington Nylon production, the molds and tooling were worn out decal used for the diamond and a lot came in with pretty canted barrels. Right after this the production was sold to Mexico. They produced a black and chrome, and a black lever action.

I’ve got one and it’s a nail driver. Tough little gun, it spent about 10 years in the evidence locker at the Sheriff’s office 😂 I got in a little trouble with it when I was younger and part of my pre trial program I had to surrender the gun and I could get it back after I competed everything. I was then told they destroyed everything in evidence and my gun was gone. Well, about 10 years later I got to talking to someone that worked at the sheriffs office and they said they haven’t destroyed any evidence in 15 years so I had them check for my rifle and sure enough it was there, got my paperwork from the DA’s office and was able to pick it up the next week.

You’re not supposed to lubricate those guns 😊

I have a question, my father has a 77 with 7 magazines from the 1990s. We brought it to the range after not shooting it for many many years and for some reason every magazine (all 7) couldn’t hold the rounds without spitting them out or feeding incorrectly. It was almost as there was no working lip. Is there any explanation to this? Do you know where we can get working magazines? Thank you. (The issue is not incorrect ammo)

Thanks much. That explains how I got a brown one with 2 10 rd. mags. for my 12th birthday in 1970. Very accurate gun. Just an FYI; I lost the "bb" that puts the snap in the safety and replaced it with a bb I found and it works great. Also a little squirt of silicone spray in the mags once in a while doesn't hurt.

If the "Nylon 77"" was only made from '87-'89 how did I get one for my 12th birthday, IN 1970? My uncle had a tubular mag. 66 before that, but I got mine in '70. I'm not familar with the Apache designation but mine is identical to the one you are showing in this video. My dad got a Ruger 10/22 a bit later that would cycle most any cartridge in its rotary mag., but my 77 only cycles reliably with CCI Stingers. It took me a bit to learn that. I don't know if it is the casing material or the fact that it has more punch but thats what I use in it to this day.. If you have any info that explains the time difference here I'd love to know what it is, but I assure I got my Remington Nylon 77 in 1970. It came with a couple 10 round clips. I got a 5 round one later. Also, my uncles 66 was green and my 77 was brown.

I have one of those rifles but my charger's insurance broke down and I can't fix it.

Can you tell me how to fix it, please?

I have one same bro and two magazines i purch my from eBay the magazines

I purchased my Apache 77 (green) from K-Mart back in 1978, and paid $79.99.  I used the order form to order 5 more mags and sling swivels from the manufacturer.  I taped 2 mags together like we did in Vietnam, so I have 3 sets of 2 taped together and I can shoot 60 times without reloading.  I also use a hasty sling to shoot like I learned in the USMC.  My little green rifle is very accurate with iron sights and I've killed a couple of ground hogs recently using it.  Remington only made 54,000 of the Apache 77's.  Cheers from eastern TN

The stocks on these have not aged well. The Nylon-66 (the plastic the gun is made of) degrades with time and dehydration, and considering these rifles haven’t been made for 40 years, it’s only a matter of time before cracks are inevitable. These should be considered very fragile and should not be fired. They should be collected and preserved for future collections.

Pretty neat rifle, thanks for sharing it with us.
