It's a brilliant game! I had the pleasure doing a playtest a while back at a convention with Phil and a few chaps ;)

It looks very cool, thanks for the video and letting me know, I will absolutely support this game.

That looks awesome. Love the old school flying stands. Definitely a "sign me up".......

Thanks for the great review, Alex!

In answer to a couple of your questions, yes, the campaign pack does cover pilots skills and development. Pilots can get better or worse at getting actions (instead of needing the base 4+, they might need 3+ or 5+ to gain an action) and courage for recovering from fright (likewise, easier or harder rolls).

Formation flying is simply a matter of taking the turn for the lead aircraft first and flying to a place where your wingman can stay in formation (just like in reality, if you manouevre too hard, your wingman might not be able to keep up), then taking the wingman's turn and flying them to where they need to be to stay in formation. My experience is that it takes a lot of discipline to stay in formation rather than having your wingman haring off after something on their own, but it can really pay dividends if you do.

That's where the IGOUGO turn structure comes in. Since all of your aircraft take their turns together, you can easily coordinate all your manoeuvres. It is also great for big games in that everyone on the same side just has their turn at the same time, making for a really quick back and forth and moving the game along rapidly, as well as making larger-scale tactics work as you coordinate with your squadron mates!

Once again, thanks and glad you enjoyed the game,
Nga Mihi Nui

This has the potential to have a really good tailing system!

If you build in a system where you can declare a plane is following another, which means they share their turn, when one would act they both act. On their shared turn they both roll their action dice but keep them secret and then run through the move options together, spending their resources until they run out.

Example:
Lead plane are you breaking: no
Chase plane are you breaking: no
Lead plane are you driving: yes
Chase plane are you diving: i guess i have to
Lead plane are you turning:yes
Chase plane are you turning: no i’ve run out of action points
Ect.

Combined with a pilot skill system that gives you more or less action points this should give a very interesting game.

That's a really interesting review Alex, thank you for presenting the really helpful information.   Your house-ruling for formations seems like a good idea. I also wonder about special rules for known specific 'quirks' such as Merlin engines cutting out when pulling negative G force in rapid acceleration, a serious problem early on until it was fixed.  I could house rule - that too of course.  I really like what I have seen and I think this is a game that I will buy.

Excellent game. Excellent review. Thank you.

Thank you for the introduction Alex. Nice to have all the information on the dashboard! Having played and run hours of WOW/WOG games.  From one on one to six to eight players per side, each flying two to four planes. The only  way play a Midway campaign.  It was nice to see the mechanics of AO6 played through.

I really like the flight stand s

I met Phil at CANCON 2025 when he was demoing the game. The lad and I had a go at each other and had a ball. Phil also had other planes on view but he had not yet worked out the mechanics for Bombers or Dive Bombers.  They were effectively just targets at the time and it was the ME106's role to protect them. The risk you took as RAF was to split the Spit and the Hurricane, one for the bombers and one to play with the ME 106's. Hilarity ensued and it does not take long to start thinking, well what if I do this.  All in all a game of @hits and giggles.

That's a very interesting game as I like wings of glory and I do like the little car Aerial.😅😅 it's going to look great with all the plans on the table. I did wonder if there is going to be a printed map of it like the over games has. Its going to be interesting to see 🤠🤠

I have been following for some time.  Glad it has made it to this point.  Is there a date for the Kickstarter?

It's a great review, very thorough.
I'd love to play a fun game of WW2 air fighting.
I never found rules I enjoyed, or that felt like flying a fighter.

My issues:
* The time dilation - 15 minute turns representing 5 seconds flying.- We need a better model of combat.
* Weak on tactics -Turning fights that disappeared with the niplane, and a lack of formation buffs - Fighters in Vids or Finger Fours.
* Machines before men - aircraft stats to the fore, pilot quality a poor relation.
* Table too small - the fight typically disappears off a table edge when things get intersting.
* Who am I? The identity crisis: am I the pilot flying alone, or with just one wingman? Or am I the fighter controller, managing squadrons?

Wow, this game looks really nice! Quality is certainly high.

Because I like indie games, and I like cheap stuff, my favorite air combat game is Tabletop Air Combat.  The Spitfire II is free to download, and comes with the rules.  It is very simple.  A 1" square is printed out on paper with two planes on it, and a single plane on the bottom side.  Flip it over when you're shot, aka your planes are your hit points.  To maneuver you get a lopsided oval "ruler" with uneven distance markings along the edges, and the plane stats printed on it.   The ruler is how the game is different than other wargames.   It gets even more distinct when you see the size and shape of the rulers for radically different planes.  Comparing a P47 to a A6M zero movement rulers are pretty drastic.

Kitty!!!

The other thing was, it inspired a bit of a transference of ideas. I have a couple of combat games involving flyers or space ships. I had never seen the telescoping rods used that way before and I strikes me that this could reflect the 3d nature of say X-Wing or the like. Surprised no one else has implemented the idea.

Gatos y miniaturas.

does anyone know how this compares withe Black Cross / Blue Sky and Age of Dogfights WWII; both of which I own but have yet to get to the table?

Who does the box art? The style reminds me of Antonis Karidis.
