on the note of perfect games, you can make a custom setting that's way more rewarding than Insanity AND include Cursed Possession, which makes getting perfect games way easier - without it in Insanity it's way harder for less return.

75% Starting Sanity
20% Sanity Pills
Breaker and Screens on
High doors starting open, no hiding spots
Low ghost activity and events
Medium roaming and ghost room moves
1 cursed item - random
Long hunts, kills don't extend, 1s grace period
0 Evidence

I never noticed an appreciable difference between setting ghost activity and events between high or low - still seem to get angry, active ghosts just as often and the added multiplier is nice. Starting at 75% sanity usually means ghost activity is going when you walk in. Great money making capability and the rounds are usually very fun!

i’m still playing intermediate mode even though i’ve been playing for a couple of months, just cuz i’m tryna learn the game better. i wanna feel comfortable with all the ghosts’ hidden abilities, speeds, sanity amount they hunt at, etc, before i try to go any higher

edit: and i can genuinely feel myself improving and getting more comfortable with game mechanics which is honestly SUPER satisfying. i never thought i’d be one of those people who would enjoy a game in which you sorta have to figure stuff out on your own with little in game guidance, but today i managed to guess that a ghost was a revenant during a hunt and i was so proud of myself lol

Professional for a Relaxed game (or with friends new to the game) and Nightmare (your "expert nightmare" version) for the most part.

I used to play insanity, stopped for a year, got 2 new buddies to play the game and started them on professional and we've been killing it

Professional is my preferred because that gameplay of searching the evidence is fun for me. If I find the bone and don't have a shade I like to do a perfect run which takes time for me.

That tip with the smudge timer steam clock, you can actually accomplish the same entirely in-game if you want it to feel a little more legit. The daily challenge clipboard can be carried inside and it provides a countdown including seconds for when the daily challenge will be replaced. And the T3 para-mic readout has a time counting up on it.

I play on a modified professional.  I play on a laptop with a touch pad which makes it very difficult for me to do anything quickly and if a ghost hunts, Im dead haha.  So I make all the hunting settings super hard, 0 hiding, long hunts, no set up time, etc.  But I make sure I play by keeping my sanity high.  So I get like 4.8xs muliplier, almost never get hunted (except for ghosts that can super early hunt) and have all 3 evidence.  I'm literally at level like 122 and still cannot survive a hunt 😂

I usually will just do a custom when i do insanity, and turn on cursed possession,or do no evidence.

Pretty much you end up having to do no evidence tests on insanity after getting the one evidence anyways lol

I usually pick this difficulty, when i have a daily that has the starter items only.  If i die or get the ghost wrong, i lose no money and get the money from the daily.  If i get it right, it's a quick buck and money from the daily.

Appreciate the repeating demo on rules before playing as if there will always be a newcomer. Haven't watched your vids for a bit and coming back now to just chill after a stressful day but too bored to play the game. Love the gameplay

I typically play on modified professional (4x) when I want to be relaxed and modified nightmare (5x) when I want to use my noggin more. I've dropped the grace period and upped the roaming, etc. to get the multiplier up. I find it's not appreciably harder than the stock professional and nightmare, but the extra 1 mult is nice.

Usually me and a couple friends just play on professional, get all of the evidence and try to fill out the board as much as we can. Usually one person ends up dying but I feel like professional is good mix of challenge and spookiness.

I personally play on Professional - view myself as a casual type gamer. I like to get the ghost type and do objectives but dont typical try hard on getting the media. I'm more if something happens and I can get it I will but dont want to hang around too long waiting for the ghost to do stuff. A lot of my knowledge I have learned from either watching your lives or watching back your VODs and even watching some of Impulse's content which honestly has made the game so much more interesting and fasinating to me

I like insanity among the listed difficulties the most, because its similar to no evidence, slightly less overbearing for being able to discount half the ghosts, but most importantly, it keeps all the functions of all the items relevant. It keeps the functionality of all the evidence items. With no evidence, a ghost book is completely useless. Also, certain ghosts having a guaranteed evidence also remains relevant here.

The two main problems I have with insanity, is not having a sanity monitor, and not having cursed possessions, but the last one I don't mind as much, because I don't always feel like relying on them. They can really cut down the time you spend in a game. But I can understand someone preferring nightmare over insanity for the cursed possessions. But I like 1 evidence setups the most. Better than 0 or 2 evidence imo.

Hey insym! I recently was brought to your content while researching what I need to attempt apocalypse mode. Was wondering if you've considered doing a detailed guide on how to make use of unofficial hiding spots(like the bed in asylum)?

20:56 I played Intermediate for about a year and a half and two days back I switched to Professional to speed up my games and I got a demon in the very first game. I didn't feel very welcome on the higher difficulty...

No reason to play insanity when you can just do 0 evidence and its honestly easier with the faster hunts

I haven’t been playing long. Only a couple of months, on and off. I just struggle having to remember ghost abilities, and patterns without referring to evidence, or the journal. Like which ghosts drain XX% sanity, which ghosts speed to you, then slow down, or start slow, then speed up. I also struggle to differentiate between ghosts speeds. I’ve been playing on Professional for a couple days to build up knowledge, but there’s still a few that catch me out.

I usually play on the modified nightmare since I like using abilities to figure out the ghosts. I would love to go to a higher difficulty like no evidence but I suck at staying alive. I find it so hard to survive hunts for some reason. I usually get confused on where the ghost is and run straight into it.
