My biggest issue with this book, other than the epilogue, was that the cast was just too small. There were literally only 4 characters, and it was obvious one of the 4 was the culprit, and it was so obvious which one of the 4 was the culprit.
For me it was the fact that Robbie didn’t find that her getting into a car at night while a serial killer was on the loose was a bad idea, like it was literal neon sign that Robbie was guilty. He would’ve at least waited to see the car and the plates if he was concerned for her safety, but he wasn’t worried because he knew he was the killer 😂
Another hint that Robbie was the killer, was that he referred to Charlie as his "special girl" multiple times throughout the book. Any time I read this, it gave me some creepy vibes.
I love these live shows bc I love the idea of mystery/thrillers but mostly I don’t actually like reading them, so I get what I need from these shows!! Like I love the idea of plot twists but I don’t like the process of reading to get to them, but hearing y’all describe that final plot twist?! My jaw DROPPED!! Also Bre had me laughing HYSTERICALLY throughout this whole thing. So anyways, overall this book actually sounds really good from the way you all described it!! Can’t wait to not read it😂💕
Missed the live Live Show but this discussion was great. I love when the panel have different opinions and articulate their thoughts so well. Obviously everyone is respectful of each other and it shows just how subjective books can be.
I gave it 5 stars so this was so fun to watch. Tbh what made me so hooked with the narrative was the constant references to movies. Just like many Hitchcock movies had ridiculous plots, so did this book.
I just came back to watch this after finishing this book yesterday. Objectively, I understand the book is full of plot holes. I groaned at every dumb decision Charlie made. But I gotta say, I went along for the ride completely head empty and had fun 😂 4 stars for me. Not my favorite Sager, but not my least fave either.
I had such a good time reading this book even though I had so many problems with so many of the twists. I think the thing the bothers me the most is that she marries Jake at the end. That was just completely unbelievable and unnecessary. I gave it 3 stars and I will still read all of Riley Sager’s books!
I am so sad that I missed this live! But a movie with similar vibes to this book is Penny Dreadful and it is one of my favorite movies of all time. Deff scary.
