I have this house and have experienced the same thing.  A tarp works but what a pain.  I feel they’re really missing the boat…with some minor modifications and a fly, it could really be a tent for all conditions. However, overall I do like it.

Appreciate your review of the monster lodge. Have been looking at getting one to expand our winter camping options with multiple people. I always spray my pop up shelters with camp dry or other water proofing spray to help with the joints and stitching. That would not help with the window dripping so glad you pointed that out.

While I love this shack for ice camping with my son the windows are a poor design being at the top of the middle slope and not the sides like eskimo, I have the eskimo 450 and 650 both have better window placement for water shedding, also the net inside is a poor design with the open bottom and things always fall out. I do prefer the otter anchor strapping design over eskimo with the built in lower straps, and they give you the full number of anchors and tie down straps, eskimo you have to buy addtional straps and anchors to tie down all sides so they both have plus and minus, I find if you keep the windows out like you did and inside fabric closed it will keep the water out and just use the windows on the ends that are on the lower portion for light, these don't drip quite as much as the higher windows do.

Glad I watched this before getting one ! Thats not a good design .. obviously the company never done product testing in all elements

Yup such a poor design for the windows. I have two otter thermal lodge hubs with same window design. Not sure why the hell they did that. I’m gonna try to do two cuts on each side and sew some Velcro on the outside I guess

Damng it, my pro lodge comes tomorrow, I had a feeling that would happen when I saw the windows. I got it so cheap I’m gonna give it a shot for now then sell it during peak ice season next year if I hate it. I’m annoyed I don’t see reflectors on the sides like my eskimo hubs have also. So I have to buy a dumb beacon for extra? Seems like bs lol.

Do you find that reheater for your winterwell does much in a small tent with  that larger stove? I upgraded to the large woodlander this year and a larger tent. My old stove was half the size and it will cook you out of the shack. Just wondering in your opinion if it was worth the extra money because its like an extra $300 to get it in Canada?
