Kip Reacts

Fellow Legends, welcome! Today we dive into another exciting episode of Spy Psychology presented by Jontohil2. This time, we dive into the battle of big brain classes. Engineer and Spy end up being compared to each other in more ways than one. But, is the interaction really as cut and dry as it first seems? I absolutely recommend that you go and check out Jontohil2, and you should definitely go ahead and check out the original video to show some support for the source material!

that's Uncle Dane. That's our Engy main man. His video format is very educational

30:44 The phrase "Bleed for 8 seconds" has become such a brain rot meme in the TF2 community thanks to Grouch's insane weapon balance video where he turned the Enforcer into a single shot weapon that deals no damage, but applies bleed.

I find one of the top comments on the original video very good - Spy does not counter Engineer. Spy counters buildings. Engineer, as the guy in charge of maintenance, is just the guy tasked with stopping you from doing your job, same as you stop him from doing his.
Also, the engi cameo was Uncle Dane, who is basically the engineer version of what Johtohil is for spy. Definitely recommend his videos once you're through with Spy Psychology.

17:00 oh hey its our favorite engineering uncle, uncle dane

Telefragging isn't a bug. It's more of a failsafe to make sure that two players of opposing teams don't get stuck inside of one another.

Engineer with White Beard is Uncle Dane. He appeared in Lazy Purple's How it feels to play Engineer

On a side note, Kip, 26:50, if you’re playing scout, don’t take the teleporter and waste the cooldown time. Leave it for the slower moving power classes and use your own superior movement speed to reach your desired destination.

Watch how to fight every class as engineer and win.

I love how when discussing pyro, they are treated as a boogeyman, a predator to beware. But with the engineer, hes treated more like an honorable rival, someone on equal footing to the spy. Its very funny

"Yippee Ki Yah! My illiterate friend"
-Spy
(Yes this is an actual line in the game for when Spy dominates an Engineer)

I don't see a lot of people commenting about it but Jonto and Uncle Dane actually had a vod together and brought up what building are the most valuable to the engineer. While the teleporter effectively increases a teams respawn time to the front line and destroying a sentry allows you team to go in and cause havoc destroying a dispenser effectively kills the engineers metal economy to sustain said building over time. The sentry is a priority target indeed and while its destruction has a imediate effect in the battle its long term effect isnt as strong where as engi can just get a lvl 3 back up to replace the one lost with his dispenser, where as if you remove the dispenser from play his ability to put a sentry back up is effectively crippled giving you team a chance to make a push. Keep in mind that it is situational on what to destroy first but logically destroy those teleporters first and your biggest priority 20:31

We making it out of the 2fort nest with this one

Since it doesn't seem like anyone is correcting you Kip, crits on buildings, do, basically nothing. There was a glitch where it had the chance to double how much metal was used to build buildings and also the buildings could build faster with crits, but I'm not sure if it was patched or not and rarely, if ever, worked when you wanted it too. The reason the Jag upgrades buildings faster, is that's it's literal upsides, it has a boost to building and swing speeds, making the animation of your buildings building up take less time, both when you put them down, and between upgrade stages.

@janacsente7279 1 year ago

the red tape recorder can also be very good when the engi is moving its building since when the engi puts down the building he is moving it needs to go through its upgrade animation like 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 but what do you think happens when it starts to just build up to its level 1 form? You put the red tape on it and it delevels from 1 to 0 in a short time.

Uncle Dane has great tutorials for new engineers with really high production value. Highly recommend.

I like the Spy as a conceptual tip of the spear, in a way. You can have a major stalemate, but one good spy player can kill the key person holding the defense together, whoever it may be at the time, and completely break the entire enemy team.

17:00 ankle dan's a very gud sentry man

@IrohNashi 1 year ago

All this… and I just troll the engineer by sapping his teleporter at spawn

@raymondwiggins354 9 months ago

Also something i did in 2fort is i used teleporters in my own base on first floor to tell when enemies, especially sapper happy spies, are coming

@radiationpony8449 7 months ago

11:00 Telefragging is an intended mechanic as clipping into an enemy player's collision box allows for some serious jank including walking into the enemy spawn. Therefore telefragging prevents the most obvious method.
