Tony Levin played the bass to my college soundtrack of Peter Gabriel solo albums on endless repeat. It was only later that I learned those huge sounds were being created by a StingRay bass. I've spent more time this last year with Music Man gear and have been endlessly impressed. I love a small company that's doing great things and here we are at 50 years worth of StingRay basses. Needed a video. :)
Enjoy,
Keith

Many years ago I happened to be at a jam night at a pub in England I had never played a bass before and the guy who was playing bass put a stingray around my neck showed me where to put my fingers and I was playing in a band and that's lead me onto a journey into playing bass

The way the Sting Ray looks and sounds is still futuristic nowadays.. it blows my mind to realize Leo, Walker and Sterling engineered it 50 years ago

Tony Levin is my favorite.

Charles Meeks is the bass player behind Chuck Mangione's Feels So Good album and it's all Music Man Sting Ray.

I’m always amazed at how good Sterling is for an eastern import

The stingray has earned its rightful place among the top 5 basses ever.

John Deacon, the king of the "less is more" philosophy - my favorite player, who is unfortunately all too often overlooked when discussing legendary musicians inextricably linked to a specific instrument. To me, alongside James Jamerson, he was THE quintessential Fender Precision Bass icon. Cliff Williams, another a secret weapon!

Thank you for being a real person. I've had dozens of stingrays over the years, so this video and got excited, then realized it would probably end up being ai and got very sad. Then I see an actual human talking, you, and now I can say great work. Thank you.

John Glascock’s Sting Ray on Jethro Tull’s “Live: Bursting Out” album. In your face loud and precise playing. Awesome stuff!

The StingRay is my go-to bass as a bassist. It seems to fill a niche that doesn't work for everyone, but absolutely rips for players who understand it.

MusicMan basses are definitely the most spoken of basses in modern rock n roll. Every bass player I worked with loved them! Excellent tribute 5WW!

So pleased to Gail Ann Dorsey so early on in the vid. Yay!

Mike Herrera of mxpx has played stingrays from day one. He has his own signature stingray also

I have a 79 MM Sabre. Had it since 84. I put Bartolini’s in it. I like the Sabre bridge super chunky and it weighs a ton. One issue is the wide and thin neck they warp. I added 2 carbon fiber rods and a new fret board. Better than ever.

Great video today Kieth.
A very iconic list of 15.
I don't own one (yet) because I love my Thunderbird and Les Paul Goldtop Bass. But it's not off the table. Like the saying " how many do you need? Just one more" . Thanks for letting us hang out again today
