To regret your tattoos because they're no longer "in trend" means you should have never gotten tattoos in the first place, if you only got them to be hip and trendy.

Crazy to think that some people live their entire lives JUST following trends......

it’s frustrating to know that so many people equate tattoos and piercings with being “dirty” when in reality they are some of the most classic, traditional practices of adorning oneself in non-eurocentric cultures.

The People regretting their tattoos over aesthetics such as ‘clean girl’ & ‘old money’ are definitely the type of people who only got their tattoos when it was trendy, not saying people can’t regret tattoos from years prior, but over aesthetic trends?! Is wild

Individualism falls apart when you look like every one else.

I feel like some people perceive themselves too much. I have a whole sleeve of malarkey and hardly ever think about it

I feel like most people who regret their tattoos got them when it was trendy and cool, not because they wanted tattoos. They wanted to fit the “trend” and, as trends do, it switched to the opposite and now they cannot fit this new trend and are upset. Get tattoos because you like it, not cuz its trendy. Its permanent ffs.

who would’ve guessed the pinterest tattoo girlies could ever regret their ink, it’s not like anybody told them copying random designs just cause they look cool was a bad idea…

Nothing more rebellious than doing what everyone else is doing

Honestly, it took longer than I thought for the tattoo fad to go away.  I guess it takes a while for the ink to fade and start to look like shit. Then kids see all these faded, wrinkly tattoos and know they are a mistake.

I still don’t get why people say “you wouldn’t put a bumper sticker on a Bentley” and like… why not? I like decorating my car, doesn’t matter to me how expensive or cheap it is.

Who would have guessed that the whole "don't get tattoos if the only reason you are is they're trendy" thing was true all along.

I guess that is what happens when you only got tattoos because it was a "trend." I love my tattoos! I feel more like myself with every new tattoo I get. My body is an art museum that I get to decorate with all the art that I love 🖤

I never got a tattoo and I don’t regret it

I'm an older guy. I remember the 80s and part of the 90s almost everyone had no tattoos whatsoever. If a person back then had several tattoos, it usually meant they were the jail bird class of scruffy low intellect people. I apologize for describing them  this way, but they really were more of the "simple" type of human being. What happened is these tattoo parlor documentaries starting to show up on TV in the 90s. Then millions of people started getting tattoos. That is what triggered this tattoo revolution. It's been so many years now, that we're seeing a trend where people are starting to second guess their decisions to get tattoos. Many people got their tattoos when they were very young and didn't have adult judgment. They liked the tattoos "in the  moment" but as they matured they began to feel differently.

This is why you never do permanent things because it's cool but because you want to do it.

I think the lean into conservative aesthetics absolutely is part of it. I think for some, being tattooed is/was primarily about social membership. Now that tattoos are more widely available and more commonly done, it’s less of a social status symbol which causes a lot of identity anxiety for some. Anyways, this video makes me want more tattoos. My body isn’t a Bentley, it’s a rusting Honda.

Sadly nearly none of them will be old money stuff because none of them are old money rich so they are just cosplaying everything 🤣 sucks to be so dependent on trends and have 0 personal taste 🤣👍🏻

The first thing I said when I got my neck tattoo “ worst decision I ever made “

I would like to add that there's also a very strong "tattoos don't gotta have any meaning or value" mentality going on.

Do whatever you want, your body your canvas, put whatever you want on it. But I think that combined with the "well you can just remove it later if you don't like it" idea has made people forget that tattoos are supposed to be long term and not accessories you can swap on a whim and that you should really, really, really want what's going on your body.
