There is a reason Son is universally loved by all. He is a class act 100% in victory and defeat. If the exemption gets repealed or reduced, I hope all future athletes openly blame the ones that created this backlash.  As for the flag raising fiasco, IMO it's just more examples of how Korea is being disrespected by Japan.  One or two mistakes can be excused, but there are just too many mistakes to chalk up to coincidence.

They sure made it easy for the public to seek abolishment of military exemption.  How are you going to ruin a good thing? Wouldn’t surprise me if their exemption was revoked.

how are those "accidents"....I doubt it.....🤔

They obviously don't consider representing their country their primary honor so why should their country reward them with this exemption? They've won the game but have lost the support of their nation - the people they were supposed to represent and fight for. Wasn't the exemption supposed to be a reward for bringing prestige and honor to the nation? Where is the prestige and honor in their actions?

This is the type of stuff you say to your close friends and family, not broadcast to the nation/world jeez. I don't know if it's a generational thing or from constantly being on social media, but some people just can't seem to filter themselves.

8:18 don't they have PR person to "prep" their players on speaking to the media? 🙄

It's not even the Olympics, yet they were given exemption.

Do these men not realise they still have to face military training? Won't the military officials take this against them?

there is an irony celebrating to not have to serve your country while representing your country. That being said.....its embarrassing and immature but these are under 23 yr old korean boys. Having been an under 23 yr old korean boy once, we're not the most mature group of kids out there

That is pretty tonedeaf, not to mention that Lee Gi-hyuk, their captain still plays in south Korea. He's 26.

8:52 I'm not korean or a football fan but even i feel disrespected by his remarks 😂

Now we all know Japan is so incompetent and probably lot of corrupted official seeing lot of mishaps going on.

korean here,
The reason Koreans are angry is the lack of sportsmanship and the lack of respect for the dedication of soldiers.
Military service benefits are a system through which the entire nation shows consideration so that promising sports players can continuously pursue their challenges.
This is because sports players have short career spans, and being unable to train for a year and a half has a significant impact on their professional athlete lives.
However, this is an additional benefit given when results are achieved after a lot of effort, and it should not become the goal itself. It violates sportsmanship.
Furthermore, their remarks and actions are an insult and disrespect to the soldiers who fulfill their national duty and dedicate themselves to the country.
It is because of the soldiers' dedication that they can train safely and move forward for their dreams.
Although some say they may have an immature attitude because they are young, most of them are in their 20s. They are adults. I believe that at that age, one should be capable of at least basic thought.
I hope they grow into more mature and responsible sports players.

Has anything gone right with these games? 😭

I cant give an opinion on mandatory military service but I can comment on the Asia game hosts. I really think there were too many mistakes against the Korean team to actual be accidental mishaps. So I'm very happy Korea won gold even despite the very suspicious circumstances.

They should eliminate exemption from the army for a gold medal in the Asian games. It’s not really an achievement which deserves so much reward. A medal in the Olympics is a big deal. Not the Asian games. Get rid of it. Shame on those Korean soccer players. BTS went to the army. I respect BTS far more than.

The players should have turned their backs when they played the North Korean anthem.

That is a shame, shows their immaturity and disrespect to those that do not have the opportunity to be exempt from service.  Surprised they are not coached to say nothing.

Host country had way too many mishaps, this was way out of their budget and it showed:  lack of food or literally no food provided after training, inappropriate lodgings, failed anthems, transport failures...the list goes on.

Since you're targeting an international audience it would be cool if you could translate these screenshots to English since most of us are not proficient enough in Korean to actually read them. I know you're translating everything with your own voice but reading it would help nevertheless. Great video anyways, thanks for the update!
