I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a journalist. With that said, Mr. Hewitt is showing the perfect way to interview an Apostle. He does what a reporter is supposed to do.
1:01 look at that expression. There is so much love, sweetness, gentleness, and kindness in his face, that is truly a man who has seen his Lord and has been forever changed by it.
Never before has a chair ever seemed so comfortable. His voice testifies of Christ with the magnitude that his body language proclaims that seat is plush.
Elder Maxwell ministered to my family with exceptional love and care during the loss of our mother to leukemia before his own cancer experience. He also fought alongside my uncle in Okinawa who did not survive. Elder Maxwell was deeply affected by his war experience and it was an important factor in shaping the man he would become.
My testimony of Christ has grown because of this second interview besides the very first one. I know the Church is restored and that Joseph Smith is indeed the Prophet of the Restoration. Hail to the man who communed with Jehovah! Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer!
Such a kind man. He went through so many trials. Bad acne that embarrassed him in high school. He raised chickens to enter into fairs and was mocked for that at as well.
And then he served as an infantry soldier in World War 2 and had to shoot and kill other human beings but he devoted his loyalty to the United States of America.
“Yea, verily, verily, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Neal Maxwell, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.” -(Alma 48:17) ;)
