Hello, my loves! I'm George Harris, and here's this summary, the way only I know how to tell it, with my own flavor, my existential hangover, and that irony that runs through my veins. This is what happened, what I felt, what I experienced… and what I want to be tattooed on your soul. This is how this show begins, which, as always, starts as an intimate conversation, a joke, and ends up being collective therapy.
Look, I started the show blindfolded, because I couldn't see a damn thing with those stage lights. But once I saw the audience, I said: damn, these people got visas! These people crossed oceans! People who came from Switzerland, from Maracay, from Houston, from Australia! Amazing! Thank you for coming! I really appreciate that effort, because I know how hard it is to travel. And that emotion energizes me. But of course, as soon as I get emotional, I start my generational therapy session.
And yes, I launched into a tirade about today's kids. Because I ask myself: what's happening to this generation? Kids born with HD, VIP, HDMI... Kids who at 10 years old already have depression, anxiety, and a psychologist! When at 10 years old, all we had was wires in our teeth and a crazy drool! Do you guys remember that? Braces were a punishment from God, and we went to school with a steel frame on our heads that looked like a robot. And yet, we still went! They teased us, pushed us, pulled our wires, but we survived!
Now kids have everything: Amazon, Red Bull, social media, on-demand series. And yet they still feel bad! They have all this stuff at their fingertips and they're depressed! We didn't even have paper for our poster board! And if you asked for some, your mom would say, "What do you think you are, an engineer?" Damn, all we wanted was to pass technical drawing!
I also talked about how everything was tougher back then. School was an emotional battlefield. The teachers were an emotional death squad; they'd wake you up at 7 a.m. to explain photosynthesis, and you'd improvise with a way of speaking that today would be considered dramatic art. And yet, we still survived!
Now everything is about sensitivity. And yes, I love the kids, but damn, who's going to be a doctor in 10 years if everyone wants to be an influencer? Who's going to operate on us?! TikTok? Please! Even I, a mix between a frustrated actor and a therapist on tour, know that's not going to work!
And well, we talked about politics, the eternal fraud, what the Cubans warned us about and we didn't listen. They told us! But we were so naive! Oh no, Venezuela is so tough! Yeah, right! So if a Cuban tells you, "Run!", you run. Without asking questions.
I closed the show as always: grateful, excited, and with the most awesome tour in the world. New York, Europe, Latin America. I give you a show, but you give me life.
