Industrial air pollution is more than an environmental issue. What happens when industrial development becomes part of everyday life?
What began as a Geography field study became an eye-opening investigation into the ground realities of industrial air pollution, industrial emissions and their impact on the surrounding environment and local communities.
During our fieldwork, we documented foul odour, severe air pollution and industrial emissions, while speaking with local households to understand their experiences, concerns and perceptions of living near the industrial site.
One response stayed with us: when given the choice, many residents said they would prefer to move away.
This documentary takes those field observations and community perspectives beyond the classroom, asking a difficult question:
How much should a community have to live with in the name of development?
Rather than presenting development only through statistics and infrastructure, this field documentary looks at its human-environment dimension, connecting geographical observation with the experiences of people living around an industrial landscape.
